So you're saying Michael Thomas is finally HEALTHY and ready to help his TEAM in 2023 :p ?

The only time I ever hear from MT is when he posts some cryptic "tweet".

When you have have to put the word 'finally' after the word 'healthy' you know its bs.

Olave and Shaheed did fine with Dalton. Maybe they will do a little better. But if Thomas could not stay on the field with lesser QBs, a possibly slightly better QB won't keep him on the field. Thomas is done. We need to do everything we can to get him in a Falcons or Panthers uniform. Not because he is a bad guy, but because he is a bad investment.

Derek Carr is capable of twisting an ankle. If he does, Taysom Hill may start a few games. We need receivers who will be there for Taysom, not twist their ankle in solidarity and post cryptic tweets until Carr is back.

I am not convinced there is any interest in Thomas from other teams. He might be acting all motivated because he is motivated to cash checks and we are the only team outside of Canada who might write him one.

I’d still draft another WR in later rounds. With or without MT, you can NEVER have enough playmakers.

Time to upgrade from Trequan Smith.

3Quan should’ve been gone when Drew retired.
He’s not going anywhere. Quan is kinda like Bob, when you think he’s gone, he’s never gone.

Without MT, do you really think we have better weapons in N.O. than what Carr had last year in LV? Jacobs was better than AK…Waller and Adams against JJ and Olave?

Plus we are being Pete the OC back. Hopefully last year for Carr is not the trend going forward.

Just wondering everyone’s thoughts. I’m still on the fence about if we really got better.

I feel we are WAY better. It's not even close how much better Carr is than Dalton. Carr can make throws that Dalton could only dream about making.

And don't count on us being without Thomas.

If the O line can't effectively run block, pass protect and utilize AK (I'm specifically calling out Pete Carmichael) in the screen game, it won't matter who is under center.

Did you notice in a lot of 3rd and short situations TAYSOM HILL was on the sidelines? Throwing to Kirkwood & Merritt. WTF?!

Predictable play calling has to change. 2012 was a long time ago.

The only way Thomas gives us a better weapon is if he steals a scalpel from the surgeon on his next season ending injury.

I don't think we have anything that should create an expectation of Carr improving. Similar weapons or worse. Similar coaching or worse. The only thing we have better is our defense but its aging.

And this is why I wonder if we got better. While I believe that almost anything is an improvement over Dalton, if the other pieces are not better than what did we do other than spend a lot of money.

Coaching was horrendous last season. With AK possibly missing 1/3 of the season and no MT, if cut or traded, I can’t see Carr or our offense being any better.

Wonder how many more long time members he's gonna have to chase off before something is finally done. Blocked him probably 2 years ago and still see his posts, because he's constantly being quoted. I agree with this. We got better at Qb, imo a lot better. Now it’s up to the staff to put the supporting cast in place. The way things are now we maybe a game or two better but we still aren’t a good team. Winning because your competition sucks doesn’t mean you are a winner.

I agree the rest of the roster needs immediate improvement, not just for this season but well beyond.

We have 7 draft picks and we signed our QB before free agency even began. The overall theme of doom and gloom is a little premature. There are excellent options at RB in free agency. Inexpensive options at that. There are some wonderful running backs in the draft. We’re in position to draft an interior defensive lineman like Calijah Kancey or a a guard like O’Cyrus Thomas. Antonio Johnson is a perfect prospect to fill the need at safety/nickel. Idk where this idea is coming from that we’re a million pieces away. You don’t have to be great at every position to win a Super Bowl. You just need to be healthy and hot. This roster is far from devoid of talent. This isn’t the Texans.

I wouldn't say we're that far away but we clearly need to get younger and there are real question marks across the D line, RB, Guard, WR, TE, Backup QB.

To your point that could all change in a single offseason. Unless it isn't.

I expect Onyemata to return and for us to draft a DT. When it comes to the D-Line I think Granderson steps up and bringing back Kpassangon was a good move as well.

Running Back is the easiest problem to solve. There’s so many great options out there. We could easily return to the RB by committee formula that brought us success back in the day.

Peat has been a problem. I see both rookies and vets that could stabilize that position for less money than he makes.

I don’t see an issue at WR if we’re reworking MT. I’m not declaring him dead like most of the other contributors.

We could definitely afford to upgrade at TE, but Juwan Johnson continues to make improvements every year.

Backup QB is an easy fix as well. Dalton. Teddy B. Rookie. It’s a lot options.

Good points Rez. Peat is our weak link on the O-line and was a terrible contract but he was the best available at the time when we had to solidify:rolleyes: the position.

Hey Major. Hope everyone has been well. Like everyone, I had to deal with the end of a disappointing season. There were a lot of things going on here a few months ago that were giving me bad vibes. Plus, I had to step out of the Saints bubble so to speak and focus on real world problems and issues going on in life. Sort of my off-season. For good or bad I should be more active here as the season moves along. I wanted to check in once Carr was signed to get people’s thoughts.

Guido is gonna Guido. You either feel like putting up with him or you don’t. And yes, he gets seen by those that want to ignore him because he inevitably posts a lot. Lord knows we don’t always see eye to eye, but I don’t always disagree with his football takes and It’s like having a coworker you don’t really enjoy. He was also nice enough to send me a message checking on me while I was doing my “aaron Rodgers darkroom” time away. Thanks for that Guido.

Excellent post rez! I’ll add another reason I am optimistic. The 2 teams that faced off in the NFCCG last year were the niners and eagles. As we all know we beat the eagles and gave the niners all they wanted and would have won with out Kamara and Olave fumbles. Point is, NO ONE else in the NFC is head and shoulders above the rest of the league.

The Saints need a better backup QB than Andy Dalton.

Andy is probably a great guy but he can't lead an offense.

Draft a QB or explore other options.

Not unless your skillset is similar to that of Carr. Then again, given the fact that Carr has only missed four games in his entire career with one being the final game in 2016 after clinching the bye and two others when sat at the end of this past season to not endanger his trade value through injury, you may very well be all we need at backup, Smash.
