Re: Saints picks in 2024

I view every player on the roster like a stock whose value on the field fluctuates every day due to many performance indicators. I don't care that Turner was a 1st round pick and Foskey was an early 2nd round pick. Turner is always hurt and Foskey does not look like he belongs in the league when he lines up against NFL Players. I think its absurd to expect that Foskey will push for a major role this season. Hypothetically he could, but based on everything we have seen since Foskey joined the Saints, Nick Lalos is more ready to step up. There is a big difference between an expectation and a hypothetical, like if Derek Carr tears his ACL in camp and Peterman is named starter I expect him to struggle. Hypothetically he could put it all together and make the pro bowl. Based on everything we have seen, Foskey and Peterman are similar talents at the NFL level. Foskey is Zach Wilson, he is Jalen Raegor, he is Johnny Football, he is Stanley Jean Bapstiste, but a DE. If Payton Turner does not get magically healthy fast, he is Kevin White at DE. If he ever plays for a stretch, maybe he is Rashaad Penny.

As for pushing to start, how about Bresee pushes to start? He was a first round pick who showed a few flashes of ability his rookie year and people act like he is well on his way to be becoming the next JJ Watt, but there is very little talk of when he will start over a couple of meh C+ $4 million bargain bin free agents. Penning was anointed starter his second year after showing nothing. If Bresee does not start in year 2, the pick probably has to be viewed as a failure. Turner and Foskey are already viewed as failures and I look forward to their spirited competition with Lalos to make the roster.

Well, Bresee looked promising and the O line fell apart under Dougie Marrone. So, I'm not passing judgement just yet on Saldiveri. Foskey looks like another reach for undeveloped potential. Those guys usually don't become solid contributors in their first year, so we'll see what happens this year with better food.

Miller was injured but looked really good in his last game. I thought Howden played well and AT Perry showed good development throughout his rookie season. I hope Kubiak knows how to draft linemen for his outside zone scheme and has a proven prototype that he recruits heavily.
