Did you know?

NFL hires 21 full-time game officials for 2017 season - NFL.com (Just the 2017 season)

Bias:
A preference or an inclination, especially one that inhibits impartial judgment.
An unfair act or policy stemming from prejudice.

If the NFL know officials with Bias towards certain teams have their crews assigned to games in which one of those "Certain Teams" are playing?

Wouldn't that be a form of "RIGGING"? "A Rose by any other name" @-->------

Nothing will convince me that the "NON CALL" in 2019 wasn't AN ORDER!!

I know that zero bias sounds counter intuitive but after you consider what/whom the league is, you’ll understand. The league is not Roger Goodell, Rodger is the commissioner figure head. The league is 32 owners that make up a carefully crafted trade association. To say that the league has bias is to say that some owners prefer teams other than their own which is counter productive.

The league is also not boxing and a fix is nearly impossible with the number of people that would have to be in on it. What the league does is meet each year and determine which outcome would bring the most financial benefit then nudge things throughout the season.

Purely hypothetical business case.
Organically the league would bring in 900BN in 2024.
With successful nudging the league would bring in 1.2T in 2024.
Either way it’s a win as they will meet their revenue goals but a successful nudging program would mean incentive bonuses to the owners.

This is the only way you’d get owners to agree to their team being nudged out.

This program is successful because most fans (fandom = pure bias) can’t fathom a pure revenue and compensation centric approach.

I’ll wager 2 years salary that every Ref has an NDA in place.
Salient points made. ^^^

There would be lots of easy ways to do it. Remotely controlled electromagnet or gyroscope in the ball. Buried device in the tee box that creates a subtle imperceptible vibration as the ball is being hit. Swapped clubs with a weight imbalance.

You can have a lot of conspiracies about the NFL, but golf literally just got taken over by a foreign government in a forced merger. The champions wear weird green jackets like some secret society. They tour a series of exclusive private clubs owned by reclusive ivy league billionaires. Every player is a walking endorsement covered in branded gear with big logos and brand names everywhere. Each player is allowed to use their own ball while in the NFL a few psi in cold weather leads to fines. They never touch the ball with their bare hands only equipment they also provide which creates a lot more opportunity to rig events than the NFL where its body to body and hand to ball pure skill. And besides gambling, every golf match is played for a giant prize so there is even more incentive to rig matches. And while many NFL games are closely matched and there is not much money to make fixing matches for gambling, every golf event has 100-1 and 1000-1 underdogs.

I am just observing that a conspiracy to rig golf seems more likely.

Remember that there is very little history of major professional team sports being rigged. What has been rigged a lot in history? Quiz shows. Fancy individual sports like the Tour De France where many repeat champions doped. Chess is awash in cheating scandals. Figure skating where the olympics was influenced by an assault. So I think cheating and rigging are more likely in golf than football, its these fancy yale skull and bones types who are more likely to rig stuff, and they like golf.

When one realizes that History itself has been rigged, one can begin to see how conspiracy “theories” become conspiracy reality. When one doesn’t realize that History is written by Victors and Controllers of great power and wealth, one continues to look at the world through the same Quido-Rose colored glasses that make Saints Game Losses so much fun.

Re: The NFL is rigged

Fact- NFL refs are part of a union.

They cannot be fined for bad calls/ no calls. They can be removed from playoff games or the SB.

With the influx of betting, the leagues "integrity" has all but gone away. While I do see the argument of pulling off such a massive stunt without spilling the beans, I also seethe league for what it is.

ESPN laid off a lot of people to fire up ESPN BET. Why?

Follow the money folks.

Re: The NFL is rigged

While I'm not going to say rigged, there seem like too many plays where Mahomes will be allowed to scramble or step up into the pocket because of a missed holding call. I don't know if there is just some way he approaches the pocket that confuses refs or what, but they are missing holds when he's out there at a higher rate.

They're likely being slightly distracted by watching Mahomes and his magic. Holding is hard enough to see in real time in a crowd even when you are looking for it. Of course, you can go to an "eye in the sky" system, but that'll probably result in holding being called on every play. We all know it occurs on every play somewhere on the field.

Re: The NFL is rigged

Okay, just for fun, I will chime in here.

As far as the refs go, I would lean towards bias before rigging. Mainly because no matter what the refs do, it's still on the players to perform. To actually catch the ball, to make the field goal, to not fumble, to tackle, etc. And yes I understand that the refs can call or ignore a penalty on a big play, but it is still on the players to make that big play.

But that's just the opinion of an old guy on his sofa, so what does it mean?
