Re: Head Coaching News and Rumors
I actually don’t give a hoot how much money a coach wants to coach here. It doesn’t affect the cap and it’s not my money being blown. I just want a good coach.

Re: Head Coaching News and Rumors
Gruden might be the only one who can salvage this team.

I guess it could be worse but I’d rather have Gruden

Re: Head Coaching News and Rumors
As painful and inconvenient as reality can be, we often need a dose of it. New Orleans was not the first choice for either Sean Payton or Drew Brees and nothing has changed in the front office since 2006 to change that. One could argue that we are less attractive now with a disengaged owner.
Sean desperately wanted to coach the Giants and when he read that the job went to McCarthy he threw his phone. Loomis did not lure him away from Dallas. Drews first choice was Miami, we did not attract him until his options were limited. Who has Sean openly stated was his mentor? His mentor on a daily basis was Tom Benson and he has stated that publicly. If we want to be a team that attracts talent we need to name a Head Coach that players want to play for above everything else. We need to also stop pretending that Mickey Loomis is anything but a contract manager because in the word of football where things matter on the field he is not on anyone's radar. It is time to ask your roster who they want to play for; if your team wants to play for someone, chances are other teams players want to play for them as well. :bng: |
Re: Head Coaching News and Rumors
You could hire Bill Walsh or Any Reid, wouldn't matter. As long as that fool, Loomis, is in charge you're not winning

Re: Head Coaching News and Rumors
If Chris Olave’s reaction is any indication, Moore would be a popular fit in the locker room. The Saints receiver weighed in on Moore and the idea of potentially getting a coach with experience in the big game. “That’s huge,” said Olave, acknowledging that he’d seen Moore’s name mentioned with other candidates in this cycle. He continued, “Just to have somebody that has reached the Super Bowl and who has a possibility to win it comes in and be the next head coach, that’s huge. I’m excited to see who the next head coach is, I’m going to be a better version of myself to try and help them win.” |

It certainly looks like it’s gonna be Moore. I don’t take issue with it. He’s young and has done well everywhere he’s been.
It can’t get any worse than last year. Literally anyone is better than DA. |

I’m cool with Moore.

I had a software engineering interview that went 90 minutes today. My wife thought that was a long one. I told her about NFL HC interviews going 6-7 hours. Her mind was blown.

I don't know how to do Twitter/X links here, but I'm seeing this per Rapoport:
As the #Saints zero in on Kellen Moore, slated to have another conversation with him after the Super Bowl, interim coach Darren Rizzi is likely to become the new #Broncos special teams coordinator, sources say. |

Re: Head Coaching News and Rumors
While I'd hate to lose Rizzi because the players love him and the fact that he's an elite ST Coach, it is what it is.
So it's an entirely new regime and we are officially holding the jazz funeral for the Sean Payton era. |

Re: Head Coaching News and Rumors
I hope it is Moore, at this point. I'm happier with him than McCarthy or anyone from the Giants organization.
Now, let's think about the pieces we have and need for an offense similar to Philly. QB - Need (Would Jalen Milroe fit?) RB - AK and Kendre OL - Big need WR - Pretty good shape, but health is a concern TE - Take Arroyo I don't think we are that far off from having the right pieces in place. |
Re: Head Coaching News and Rumors
Here is what I have heard about Moore that I like. Typically, he is a pass first guy, but this year decided to feature the run. It appears he knows when to go with the offenses strengths.

My take is suffer this year with the current QB room, cut Carr at some point, and draft a QB next if need be. Next year's class is fixing to be better than this year's crop. Concentrate on beefing up both lines. Now if someone offers us a draft pick for Carr, despite Carr's no trade clause, maybe we should look at that. |

RB- AK (Short shelf life left) Kendre (Who? The Glass Tiger?) OL- Definitely need Big Bodies on Interior OL WR- Get what you can for Olave and reset. TE- Draft someone who's fearless with decent hands. JJ and FM are serviceable but not threats to opposing D's I'll add the following: ILB- Either move Gay to his natural position where he can wreck shop or draft a stud. Either way, Demario should be rotated. He's lost more than a step. Safety- Same as DD for Honey Badger. Time to move on. BIGGEST NEED: A NEW GM TO ASSIST A NEW HC IN RIGHTING THIS SHIP!!! :bng: |
Re: Head Coaching News and Rumors
Need a run game and strong Offensive and Defensive lines.
Smart, decisive and accurate QB. |

I would take Moore or gruden and Jenty in the 1st. Shore up the line and run the ball 75% of the time. Control the clock and the line of scrimmage

Re: Head Coaching News and Rumors
Interesting article with sound logic on why Rattler makes sense as starter for Moore.

Re: Head Coaching News and Rumors
Jeanty in rd 1? I wouldn’t. He’s already carried a ton already in college.
Load up on that defensive front & oline. In case you haven’t noticed, the offensive depth is poor in New Orleans. Saints have far too many other needs. |
Re: Head Coaching News and Rumors
Team that draft rb in the 1st round are suckers. Virtually no RB is great in the nfl unless the oline and pass game are good. It can only be slightly defensible to draft rv in the 1st if you already have the oline, passing game, and defense, and its in the late 1st. The Falcons went all in on blockbuster rb with Blowjob Robinson and it got them nowhere. This was a fluke year with two free agents and overall rb is cheap in free agency and the draft because its risky and more a product of system rbs. You dont pick rb on day 1.
