I did think of Ditka. Definitely a great player. He wasn't good at New Orleans, but won a chamionship with Chicago, right? Anyone else think of other examples good or bad? Succeeded or failed?

Primetime, maybe?

In the NBA it's a thing. Magic Johnson, Steve Nash, and I feel like I'm forgetting others.

Given Brees' prep and football IQ I think he would be a good QB coach.

All that being said, time is money and I am not sure we could afford his time...

Coaches don't count against the cap. It doesn't matter how much they get paid. Gayle is the second richest person in Louisiana.

It doesnt matter a lot but it does matter a little because the more they are paid the more it entices management to let them finish out their contract even if they struggle. You dont get rich by paying people bug bucks not to work so many owners are hesitant to take thaf big hit. If DA was making $20 million a year he might still be head coach.

I’ve been in too many organizations where someone that was very good in a STEM field or specific application was promoted into a managerial role with catastrophic results.

A quick change of the phrasing eliminates confirmation bias. How many great coaches were great players?

How many businesses have you seen fail because someone with talent while working ‘in the business’ didn’t translate to talent working ‘on the business’?

Same goes for leading people. Great motivators are rarely great something else’s and vice versa.

Great leadership can look different. Even in football there is no archetype. Bill Belichick, Tom Osborne, Jimmy Johnson, Tom Landry, etc. are all different from each other. If you can inspire trust and motivate people without being a hypocrite or a liar that's a start.

Key word Reggie used. "Anomaly." About Dan Campbell. I had them going to the SB this year. But they couldn't get it done. In their house.

I wouldn't mind seeing what they have to offer in TC.
