Re: Derek Carr Retires
Some people seem to be surprised by this? He refused to live in New Orleans and spends his off season time podcasting about exotic cars with his brother.
He f**d us by not retiring before the draft. In a state where minimal effort gets you hometown love for practically the rest of your existence; he failed to do the minimum which was embrace the team, the city, or the state. I hope he is selling broken dildos by this time next season. :bng: |
Re: Derek Carr Retires
Politics aside, there are definitely some parallels between the handling of Carr and Biden's medical issues. In both cases someone who was not able to continue was put up for another term while hiding medical issues their team was aware of from the public, money and time was spent on a plan that could not move forward, the press and big events were avoided, then their additional term was ended before it ever started, worse medical issues were disclosed, and they were replaced with a second pick who had very little experience in competition. I don't want to get into politics, but its an interesting parallel that shows people would like leaders to be more transparent but many leaders are more focused on obsessively controlling the optics.

I can't point to any incident in the history of the NFL where a player got injured on purpose or to cover up a non-football injury, but if there was one situation in the entire history of the NFL where the possibility of that scenario was a little less than zero, it would be Derek Carr, and aging immobile QB with a 4-8 record and a distant chance of a playoff berth in a non-critical 2nd down with the lead decided that was the moment for the first time in his career to put everything on the line and try to hurdle defenders, and then came down with injuries to his left hand, right shoulder, and a concussion, but didn't disclose the left shoulder until months later, because a headache and a broken non-throwing hand prevented him from noticing. Its not inconceivable that Carr hurt his shoulder doing an engine swap on his Bentley or something like that and was afraid to see a doctor and unsure if it was a serious injury or not, and made a split second bad decision to hurdle in order to have a cover for the injury, then later felt remorse and retired. |

I'm sorry, but his uninformed theory on Biden just hit home closely. Dad was about the same age and fully healthy at his last complete semi-annual checkup which included an ideal PSA test. Hell, he'd been shooting his age in golf regularly at the time. He started having symptoms a couple of months later out of the blue. It was already stage 4 from being completely absent just weeks before. |
