@ProFootballTalk
Reggie Bush deal with the Saints, per league source: Two years, $9.75 million. He gets $5 million in 2011. |

I know it's business and I know the production wasn't there but I remember Draft Fest when we took Reggie. There were people hugging and crying like we won the Super Bowl. I have some friends in Metairie and I spent a fair share of time helping them right after Katrina. When I think of the hope Reggie brought, the energy, and the extraordinary rise in ticket sales I can't help but feel bad he's now gone. He gave a regional team a national face and gave the Saints a popularity it had never had outside the Gulf Region at a time it needed the popularity. Reggie may not have lived up to the hype but he was the perfect draft choice for that city at that time and he was a key piece in delivering the Saints it's first Super Bowl. For that, I will always be grateful. I'm just glad he's not only out of the Division, but out of the NFC. That way I can root for him and wish him well. The fact he put them in a position to get something for him instead of being difficult allows him to leave without putting a bitter taste in my mouth. Thanks Reggie and good luck. |

Not happy about it. I don't think Miami knows how to use bush correctly and he will only have a marginal impact. Bush has been playing behind one of the better OL in the NFL for years. Miami's OL is not that great. I think they will over play him and he will get hurt,,, um again. Plus they don't have the weapons we have, and good QB play, so he's not much of a mismatch for defenses playing Miami. Id be surprised if he did well there. We needed him because when we have thomas,colston,moore, meachum, and david thomas on the field with bush, he is a mismatch nightmare, you can't put a LB on him, and he's brilliant at sweeps, and short slants. So he kills the blitz on brees. Bush can be on his game, Like the cardinals playoff game, and almost win it single handed, and then he can almost single handedly lose you a game,lol, Like Dallas last year or Seattle. Hes an Xfactor, but not a full time talent, like Johnson. He can't pull the weight of a team. Losing him, it will seriously hurt the way defenses cover our WR,TE's,RB and we might not be able to maintain the #1 offense in the NFL we have enjoyed sense 2006. We might have to come to terms with that, or find another threat to plug into his spot, like Brad smith, maybe. I think the only teams besides N.O. where he could be effective is, Patriots, Eagles, colts, and chargers. But wish him the best, we know he did the best he could, he just cost to much. |
Saints proved that pigs could fly in 2009.
Now its time for another miracle SuperBowl and go where no pig has gone before. ![]() |

I certainly wouldn't have paid that. I'm sure all the ones hopeful he would take less money now realize it wasn't a realistic option. There were way more important players to get under contract than to re-up Bush at that rate.
It was never about not wanting Reggie back. |
