I'm just hoping that some new faces can step up and make a difference, make some plays, stir up the mix and rejuvenate some vets to play at a high level. I'm kind of hoping for some new names in the news. We can't even try to be the 09' team or last years team; we've got to get better. Sometimes that means new blood. It's our time! AGAIN!

If we have issues at linebacker we could always sign the Jeff, Steve, and Jack...

I would have a hard time believing that they keep Turk McBride and Clint Ingram over depth players on the O-line, unless they seriously step it up in the next couple pre-season games. To be fair, I don't know who on the O-line they would keep, but only two back-ups (with one being a career center) for 5 positions in one of the linchpin parts of the offense...that is playing with fire.

This is a great point; either we have some special free agents/rookies in camp or we now have a concern of greater importance...

Pat Yasinskas of ESPN who writes the NFC South blog (also one of the better reporters/writers for ESPN, I know, not saying much) pointed out how our salary structure for Oline is different than any other in the league...

I hope Streif doesn't start I just don't see him as a starter.

Who would you have start instead of him? Probably not Foster... do you think Nicks could slide into tackle and make Tennant take up guard duties like was suggested in another thread?

Let the man compete before you pass judgement. If he is the best player, then he should be starting, if not, he won't. He had the misfortune of being behind the Saints longest tenured player, and a pro-bowler to boot, and he still contributed well as a 6th blocker/TE. He probably isn't dominant like Stinch was back in the day, but I don't recall him ever being embarassed by anyone.

And if Brown is finally able to stay healthy and start progressing in his development... Strief might not have a long window of opportunity to show that he can be a starter for the team.

It might be that he's a starter for this season and is either replaced by Brown on the O-Line or with a new FA acquisition during next off-season.

He had 2 or 3 false starts Friday night against second and third stringers. I will let him compete we have know choice. I want to see what he's going to do against this 3-4 defense that the Texans run. This should be intersting
