2011 New Orleans Saints Depth Chart
It's early in training camp, but this helps to build a picture of the team and what free agent needs may still be needed; plus young FA as well as Rookies may have to show something in camp...
WR Marques Colston, Lance Moore, Adrian Arrington LT Jermon Bushrod, Charles Brown LG Carl Nicks C Matt Tennant RG Jahri Evans RT Jon Stinchcomb, Zach Strief TE Jimmy Graham, David Thomas, Tory Humphrey FL Devery Henderson, Robert Meachem QB Drew Brees, Chase Daniel FB Korey Hall, Lynell Hamilton RB Pierre Thomas, Mark Ingram(r), Darren Sproles, Chris Ivory LDE Cam Jordan(r), Alex Brown, Junior Galette, Turk McBride DT Sedrick Ellis NT Shaun Rogers, Aubrayo Franklin RDE Will Smith, Jeff Charleston, Greg Romeus(r) OLB Scott Shanle, Will Herring, Jonathan Casillas MLB Jonathan Vilma, Marvin Mitchell, Anthony Waters OLB Martez Wilson(r), Clint Ingram, Jo-Lonn Dunbar LCB Jabari Greer, Patrick Robinson, Johnny Patrick SS Roman Harper, Pierson Prioleau, Chris Reis FS Malcolm Jenkins, Andre McDaniel(r) RCB Tracy Porter, Leigh Torrence, Fabian Washington PK Garrett Hartley P Thomas Morstead You can see some interesting position battles in camp... Will Herring could have been signed as the nickle linebacker/specialist to spell Shanle, add depth... DT-3 has Ellis and no other proven players; unless Saints braintrust has something else in mind, makes you see alot of LB, another NT signing, alot of DE, yet only one DT-3....hmmm |
It's not that my way is the right way, I just make the right way my way...

Offense looks about right but on defence. I see Alex Brown and Anthony Waters gone. I hope we have a sleeper on this team that come and play his a&* off and make the team.

JP; Charleston, Mitchell, Waters are not signed (A/O this writing). Romeus may go on either IR or PUP given he hasn't practiced to date due to rehabing a knee.
Plus, Safeties Amaya and Oliver will be in play. Don't forget the LS Drescher. New Orleans Saints free agency tracker | NOLA.com |

Hey fellow Saints fans!
I'm a first time poster, but a long time lurker on these forums, and I've been a fan & close follower of the Saints since around 1998 ("Ditka era"). I had couple of things to add... C Matt Tennant -> C Cecil Newton Although he was probably mainly brought in as a camp body, I guess he could serve as the backup for Tennant if Goodwin doesn't return and no other FA is brought in by the FO. And additionally he could also take up Tennant's duties on the ST. Naturally this would make the position a possible liability, but if the gap doesn't allow anymore big moves than I guess this would be what the Saints have at the moment. And what about this Ryan Taylor guy... another camp body? DT Sedrick Ellis -> DT Tom Johnson I was under the impression that this guy was a pretty promising 3-tech from the CFL, who had shown alot of promise and could really be a massive "sleeper." Naturally he is still unproven, which might be why he was not posted in the above depth chart. According to the above highlights he seems to have that explosiveness off the line that could make him a good rotational guy for Ellis with a slightly bigger frame at 6-foot-3. Although, I'll be the first to admit that the CFL O-Lines really aren't true comparisons for their NFL counterparts. He apparently spent some time with the Colts before going to the CFL where he was a "West Division All-Star" for what it's worth. But, I believe you guys would know more about him than I do? Also, as an afterthought, I read somewhere that Cameron Jordan can supposedly slide to DT as well, but since I haven't seen any of his College games at California... I don't know for sure whether it's true or not. Anyway... just my two cents. |
