Just say no to Parcells.

Leave the media circus to the NY football jets.

What's next, if Brees doesn't sign, are you going to get Favre?

(I'm JOKING!)

This is a good move guys. I don't think some of you reallize the media circus, this team is going to have to get used to this season. In my opinion it's a circus that neither Carmichael, or Spaggs has ever imagined, let alone know how to deal with....

If Sean Payton thought this up and wants this, then all 's good. Why not?
Parcells hired SP at DC 2003-2005.
They are friends.
They are "of the same coaching " in a way since SP woprked and was hired by Parcells.
I keep hearing everyone say Spags . Spags. No, PC ,PC. Ok, but who will replace one of these guys?
Well?
Perhaps better leave them in position where their strentgh is now rather than have them abruptly do this now and then have someone else take of DefC or OffC position.

SaintPauly , see post above, you have a good point.

I just feel that this is exactly what Sean is thinking as well. Why put your brand new DC, or your inexperienced OC through this when you don't have too. It's like someone else said, with Parcells, we know it's only for one season. With someone else, it will be more permanent.

I'll tell you what this is. It is yet another brilliant move by Coach Payton.

It let's the coordinators stay focused and maintains continuity.

And it tells the Press who've been dying to take a shot at Coach Payton and have jumped on his back during this whole episode one thing -

F**K YOU!

PS: Didn't we bring this up about Tuna on another thread? Somebody is reading our stuff...

I love this move...IF ground rules are laid down at the beginning, then adhered to.

Parcells should be there for
1) general game management (time out calling, instant replays, etc.)
2) media interactions
3) managing emergencies (e.g. roster moves if there are player injures)
4) mentoring coordinators and assistant coaches

Carmichael has to have play calling responsibilities and Spags control of the D, otherwise it won't work.

Someone on the NFL Network suggested bringing Parcells in as a "Director of Football Operations" or something along those lines, rather than as HC...I REALLY love that idea...

Good choice, We need someone who can handle the stupid bounty or suspension questions that will be repeated hundreds of times weekly by crazy reporters. I think his experience would be able to protect coaches and players from the nonsense and keep their focus on football.

This is what I've been thinking all day too.

Let's not get too caught up in the "Head Coach" title.

Well I've never been a big fan of Parcells but I would welcome this with open arms. I agree with those who are of the opinion that Spags and Carmichael need to stay focused on the offense and defense. Parcells is a close friend of Paytons and I think if this were to happen he would not come in and start imposing himself and changing things as if he were taking over permanently. I think he would be great support for the assistants and he could divert some of the head coach stuff away from the other coaches so they can focus on the task at hand.
