Honestly this looks worse for GW than the Saints. SP (doubt his year will be reduced) and the players (probably will get their suspensions by next week) already have been punished. Why even leak the audio? I don't care about this...This kinda stuff believe it or not is said in EVERY football locker room. Not saying its right and that its not disturbing but it is what it is.
This is nothing more than a PR move to get everyone as angry as they were when they first heard about the bounties. Because if you haven't noticed it had kind of died down a little. Everytime something came the Saints would counter with a big signing that no one thought we had enough cap space to make. The most likely hiring of Parcells as interim coach had people talking about that instead of bounties....you think the NFL appreciates that..NO. So they figure hey we'll leak this so we can continue to make it seem like the Saints are the most evil organization in the world. And because this audio seems to be so damning...the only way to counter is to do 1 of 2 things....sign Brees or get Parcells. In a perfect world they would do both at the same time. |

That's not good for Williams. It actually helps the case of players and Sean Payton. The players were under explicit orders from the defensive coach, who claims total autonomy in running the defense, to do what they are accused of doing. They were clearly coerced with the threat of losing their jobs. The claim of autonomy supports Payton's claim of not knowing what was going on even as he took blame for it happening under his watch.

Ironically, our defense didn't do crap during this game. Not only did we not injure anyone, we gave up 36 points to stupid Alex Smith!
I'm glad Gregg Williams is gone. And to be honest, I did notice some things in games that were a direct result of Williams that I didn't enjoy watching to put it mildly. I hope Spags and the new linebackers can bring some basic tackling back to our team. |

And the reporter who taped it...
"Pamphilon, who watched the Saints-49ers game from the New Orleans sidelines, said he doesn’t believe Williams’ speech translated into any actual harm to San Francisco players. “I was two feet behind the Saints’ bench,” he said, “and it looked like they were trying to kill each other every play. But I’ve watched about 15 NFL games from the sidelines, and I didn’t see anything different in that game than I’ve seen in any other football game. To me, they’re all trying to separate guys from the ball and all trying to get big hits that land them on ‘SportsCenter’ – on every play.” Saying you are going to do something and actually doing it are entirely two different circumstances. I'm still waiting for anyone to show a specific play where it actually occured. |

3 points I’d like to make about that recording is...
1.)Never was there mentioned that incentives would be given for those hits. 2.)GW was right, all the defenses that are respected in the league earned their respect by making “dirty” hits and not apologizing for them! Thats encouraged by the NFL,thats the character of the NFL and that’s Goodell’s responsibility to change that general consensus view. Also you couldn’t convince me that GW is the only DC that encouraged(s) a hard and physical defense and speaks like that to his players, but really it’s more of a league problem, because the NFL is supposed to be monitoring these so called “dirty” hits we've been making and fine them. 3.)And that brings me to my last point. Where are the big hits? Where are the cart offs? Where are the knock outs?!?!?!? In-particularly the 4Whiners game. The only big hits that could be even remotely viewed as dirty were hits made by the opposing team! I’m not condoning dirty hits, but I would bet 80% or more of DCs tell their players the same thing before a game to get them pumped up,more hot air than anything else. If anything Goodell needs to be suspended for allowing such a crappy officiating system to be in place and not doing a better job of tightening the rules to eliminate “dirty” hits! |

Then instead of LEARNING from the mistake he made the first time HE DID IT AGAIN! I'm sorry but.....it just makes me so angry that Brees had 2 of his defining moments (you can't tell me that those last 2 TDs wouldn't have been on his HOF highlight reel) pissed away by his DC.
