If they interpret the tag formula as $23.574M that is a game changer. There won't be enough cap room to even tag him.

Unfortunately, we don't figure this out then we will be forever haunted and tormented as the team that refused to sign "Drew". Too bad, we don't sign him, someone else eventually will. While it may easier to live with when you live in the south where you are surrounded by other fans. Try living somewhere like the Pacific Northwest, where its "one parts per million". Not enjoyable.

If he wants more up front or whatever then okay, but let's not ever entertain the idea that we 'refused to sign' Drew. We've been very fair negotiating with him, and my guess is that if he had an agent who's name wasn't Tom Condon he'd be signed already. |

Unbelievable. Chase is not or will be the answer. Yes the team is loaded with talent but Drew is the catalyst. Without Drew, it's a 8-8 season and a huge step backwards.
Peyton Manning got huge money, after being out for a year and unsure if he will still be able to handle a season. Drew is peaking, this is just aweful on BOTH sides. |

Have you people lost your collective minds. I mean seriously, you don' t lose one of the top 4-5 gb's in the league. Im not saying we give in on everything, but you sugn the guy. End of story, you sign the guy. We are spoiled, spoiled by how good Drew us. Play a season without him and you'll see.

I think "gutting the team" is a little dramatic. You cut under performers to keep the over performers. You increase the value... It wouldn't take more than Vilma.
I have seen a lot of questioning about Drew's commitment to the team. Here is a question for everyone. Who is more important to the TEAM this season, Brees or Vilma? Who has already been replaced Brees or Vilma? Who is at this moment guaranteed healthy enough to play, Brees or Vilma? If Vilma is thinking about the TEAM, he is thus far suspended this season and is STILL not 100% back from his surgery... He sits out this season allowing cap space to keep Drew. Next season we worry about getting Vilma on the field if he competes and earns his spot back. So this comes to a hard decision. Tell Vilma bye and secure Brees? Or risk playing 2012 with out both of them. |

Now we are all not stupid, or naive on how this works. There is a pie, right you have what 52 people want a slice? how in the hell does he end up with half. Come on after we were told he would do whatever it takes to keep this team together, i do remember hearing that. I know Drew deserves to be the highest player in the league, but at what cost do we do that. There isn't enough money... per cap. period. But I still believe he will be a saint, loomis will get it done, and if he can't then shame on you Drew and your jackass agent. |
