I'm not so sure it isn't realistic. If we give Drew what Condon appears to want, which player or players are we unable to sign going forward.

If it was cut and dry we would have caved already. We just don't have the cap room to accommodate his precise wants.

The man is getting paid.
Now we are all not stupid, or naive on how this works. There is a pie, right you have what 52 people want a slice? how in the hell does he end up with half. Come on after we were told he would do whatever it takes to keep this team together, i do remember hearing that.
I know Drew deserves to be the highest player in the league, but at what cost do we do that. There isn't enough money... per cap. period. But I still believe he will be a saint, loomis will get it done, and if he can't then shame on you Drew and your jackass agent.
We aren' t winning anything without him. Yes, there has to be a compromise, but in the end, pay the man

But thats the thing HOW do you know that. Nobody knew Drew was even gonna be as great as he is when he signed. How do we know that Chase can't handle it and at least get is a wild card spot if given a chance? Everyone being so paranoid when not one of us can tell the future. I'm pretty sure people in Green Bay thought the same thing when they let Farvre go.....look how that turned out. I'm just saying no one should completely take for granted the talent that we do have. Cuz they do have talent they wouldn't be on the team if they didn't.

Brees is not going to sit out Loomis' job is riding on this and Benson loses is cash cow if he lets him sit so if Benson has to get off his A$$ sit down with Drew and get it done at the deadline then thats whats gonna happen.

And the Saints probably are letting Vilma go thru this lawsuit just to show loyalty....you can bet whatever's in your bank account that they hope he doesn't win his appeal because then that 4mil + is all they need to secure Brees...

And another question I have....if the signing bonus doesn't count towards the cap why not just give this man like 30mil upfront give him a cheap base for this year and give him the rest in the next 2 years?

But once again at what cost?? WE did TRY "THEY TURNED IT DOWN". iS IT because of what is going on with the franchise tags that was stated in this post? That is bull S... if that is the case, but once again faith in what BIG TOM and Loomis said... The deal will get done.
Us as fans will have to wait to see as to how, much the team gave.

It was turned down because of some upcoming big QB contracts that would effect it... It was a prudent decision, and there was absolutely no reason to rush. The cat is very smart... Am I saying he knew he would break a record last season.. no... Did he know he was going to do something to increase his value? probably so... and he did just that.

Had he signed, then you can bet he would be the second highest paid QB today between Manning and Brady...

Manning - 5 years $96M

Brady 5 year $78.5M

Drew was offered $19/year = $95M

But the real issue of why he did not accept is not because of the Contract Value... It was because of the structure and loading.

I don't even know how to answer something this naive. The point is, we have been to 4 playoff appearances with drew, an NFC championship and won a super bowl.

WE KNOW WHAT WE HAVE WITH HIM!!!

That is exactly the point!

I remember watching the Seahawks- 49ers game at the end of last year, and I remarked in the chat room-"Man we are spoiled having Brees, you don't realize it until you watch the crap playing QB on other teams". Do you not get that he is one of the best in the game, the best player to ever suit up in a Saints jersey, a hall of famer, a madman of a competitor?

Shove Vilma and Will Smith out the door if need be, but pay the god damn man.

It's Drew ****ing Brees man.

Just caught NFL 32.

Brees filed for an arbitrator through the NFLPA to address the 3-yr franchise procedure. per John Clayton
