Re: Bucs notes: Crucial call keeps Saints' TD drive alive
If I'm not mistaken, I believe he's referring to the FG attempt, which is what the headline refers to.

Re: Bucs notes: Crucial call keeps Saints' TD drive alive
I thought the calls heavily favored the Bucs. Between the interception they clearly took from us, which led to a Tampa touchdown, and I believe it was on their last touchdown drive that the refs kept making bogus calls on third and 4th downs, including an illegal contact call on an incomplete pass that turned 4th and 25 into an automatic first down. The Suckaneers have no right to whine.

I think in that situation it's a lot easier for a defender to remember the rules and have game awareness than the receiver, who by that point is just running around trying desperately to make a play. Which is kind of exactly what I think happened there.

In contrast... two of the most important things a receiver should ALWAYS know? Where your feet are, and where the line is.

Re: Bucs notes: Crucial call keeps Saints' TD drive alive
Agreed. If you're a receiver, you simply cannot forget that rule or just plain not know where you are. Receivers make circus-tight roping catches along the sidelines all the time. They know where they are, so for Williams to not know that is pretty sad. But it was absolutely the right call, and if he doesn't run out of bounds he never would have gotten so open, because the defender already knew his man was out of the play.
