Re: What do y'all think?
The Ansah choice intrigues me. He seems like a Spags kind of player with his size. He's still pretty new to the game, but after I did some research on him, he could be a decent pick. Still very raw, but hopefully he would have a quick learning curve. Not so much on DT's in the first round now. We got a good one last year in the third round. Our last two DT's (to my memory) that we drafted in the first round have been forgettable (Sullivan and Ellis). Just Hankins' first name being Johnathan scared me away from him.

Re: 2013 NFL Draft - Saints Big Board
Bjorn Werner! We'll have to trade up most likely but this is a guy that will be a play maker for years! I don't want to find a fixer upper, that tends to work well on offense but never seems to work out on defense. Go get me some studs and cut ties with the crap that's dragging us behind!

Re: 2013 NFL Draft - Saints Big Board
Mingo would be my #2,if Bjorn is gone. After watching him with the Tigers the past few years I've constantly been impressed by his energy, speed, strength, and that rare ability to be at the right place at the right time. I really hope we don't trade down. I want to go after some PROVEN defensive talent! I think the whole draft should be solely used on defense. Also if we can't get a great DE at our spot then I think we should try to get Eric Reid. We desperately need a consistent safety!

Reid is a 2nd rounder, if the Saints only had a second round pick damn

I think it may have to be OT in the first.
If we can't keep Brees up right and give him time in the pocket the defensive issues won't matter. My hope is that Margus Hunt is still there in the third round. In dont see him still being there as his stick is rising and I see him having a great work out in the combines and going in the second. |

Couple of others being taken according to some mocks
15. New Orleans Saints - Johnathan Hankins, DT, Ohio State No team played the run worse this season than the Saints. Sedrick Ellis hasn't lived up to his draft position and the depth at tackle in New Orleans is reliant on Akiem Hicks developing. Instead of hoping on Hicks, Hankins would step into a prominent position inside for the Saints. There are some effort issues with Hankins, but his talent and size would be hard to pass up at this point in the draft. The last part worries me. I'd rather have somebody good who comes to play and gives his all w dry down than a very good player that takes plays off. One of the reports on CBS has Manti Te'o falling to the Saints.Dont see it myself. I think we need DE/DT/OT more but he would be too good to pass up wouldn't he? |
"Two receivers to the left, Garcon to the right. Manning in the shotgun, puts Collie in motion. Looks in his direction...it's picked off! It's picked off! It's Tracy Porter again! He's runnin' free! He's gonna go all the way!

Thoughts on Cornellius Carradine,DE, Florida State
He tore his ACL late in the season and has dropped down the boards. Some have him dropping to the 4rd round now.Might be a good option. Season stats (12 games): 80 tackles, 11 sacks, 13 tackles for loss, forced fumble, fumble recovery. Player ranking: Carradine is ranked No. 110 overall and is the No. 14 defensive end in CBSSports.com's latest player rankings. Up next: Carradine's season is over due to a torn ACL. - Sean Bielawski, CBSSports.com |

I hope this coming year is finally when we get to see what the kid has got, either he stays healthy or we have to cut him loose... my thinking anyway

Depends on how bad the tear was.
It also depends in who is left on the board come the 4th round and who we have re-signed and already drafted. I'm just throwing names out there that could be worth looking at. If he is player we need then its worth the wait. |
