I hear ya dub. But payton drafted the guy so if he can.t motivate the man he can run his ass out of town also. I believe the defensive backs coach needs to be accountable also. This diving at players and coming up with air mush be abolished

He and the rest of the D including linebackers do not understand Spags' zone coverage so we either need to pick up guys in the draft or free agency that do, or keep the guys that have potiential and TEACH them!

If he is an OLB, we should take him in a heart beat, just wondered because we have lofton at MLB
Doubtful we have linebackers all day, Lofton, Chamberlain, Hawthorne.... DE is the weakness thats where the first rounder should go.

NO they can't even be decent corners cause there is no pressure.

4-3 or 3-4...

If it's a 4-3, then DL is where you start, then LB, then DB...

If it's a 3-4, then you start with the LB, then DL, then DB...

But there's no question the backfield suckedit - but how long must our CB be asked to cover receivers on each and every down because our DL are working their way up to a sack sometime next year?!?

Why all this talk of switching to a 3-4? Spags is a 4-3 press zone coverage guy, and the players he brought in so far has played decent.

Let him get a few more pieces and see what happens this year...

What position we draft is all gonna depend on free agency.

Just like it does every year. Loomis always shores up weaknesses with mid-level free agents. Occasionally he'll land an upper tier guy (Vilma, Shockey, Sharper etc) but mostly mid-tier guys that fit our system.

It was nearly unanimous that Marquis Johson was our best CB in preseason. He fit Spags system perfectly and there was no learning curve. And he was a medocre free-agent at best. I wonder how we'd have done if he'd stayed healthy? Greer and Robinson are not good fits for zone CB's.

My guess is that we shore up all the problem areas in free agency then draft BPA with every pick, excluding QB and RB.

Obviously a rare talent falls, you grab him...

All things being relatively equal or within two grade points - it'll come down to an Offensive Tackle or Defensive End if we stay in a 4-3 which we probably will for at least one more season...
