Barrett Jones I still think a player of his skills is hard to over look.

Solid OG
He then started all 14 contests at right guard as a redshirt freshman for Nick Saban's first BCS champion Tide squad in 2009.

Above average LOT
Jones made the rare switch from right guard to left tackle in 2011 to replace James Carpenter, a first-round pick of the Seattle Seahawks. He handled the transition so well (while also playing left guard, right tackle and center at times) for the Bowl Championship Series champions that he received the Outland Trophy as the nation’s best “interior lineman” as well as the SEC’s Jacob Blocking Trophy, given to the league’s best lineman.

Solid OC
His final year on campus featured another move, this time to the center position. He capped the year off with another consensus selection to the All-American and All-SEC teams, as well as winning the Rimington Trophy (awarded to the nation’s top center)

Off the Feild

He also possesses the intelligence and high character NFL offensive line coaches desire in their prospects, finishing his degree in accounting in just three years, and won the Wuerffel Trophy for his play on the field and work in the academic and community service worlds.

Power and finesses is there. he has starting RT written all over him for years to come. Most people think he is only a OC/OG i dont think so.

Pro Bowls? very possible. College awards are there

injury history
Shoulder his Freshman year
dreaded lis franc injury limiting his mobility over the second half of the season.
Warning this is not a minor injury. this is my major concern on him. This kind of injury has a habit of resurfacing over and over. serious nagging injury, medical evals are key.

if he falls to the third you have to take him. i have actually seen his name in the third now. IMO no way does he fall that far. if the Saints end up with a second rounder they have to really look at him as an option

Re: 2013 NFL Draft - Saints Big Board

Peter Lalich QB Virgina, Oregon State, California University of Pennsylvania
6-5 235

Busted in Virgina for buying beer under age
Busted at Oregon St. for boating DUI.

He would love New orleans lol. Come on we all have done these things. he is suppose to be extremely football smart. Just makes you wonder if Bonehead also fits. Then again his ego is probably very deflated now and might have taken of the rose color elite joke glasses.

All jokes aside the kid should go undrafted and might be worth a camp spot for UDFA.

Yahoo cover story may have finally paid off.

Re: 2013 NFL Draft - Saints Big Board

Representatives from 21 NFL teams gathered at Mississippi State’s pro day on March 6, where 18 players worked out. Notable coaches present were New York Giants defensive line coach Robert Nunn, New Orleans Saints defensive backs coach Wesley McGriff and Denver Broncos defensive coordinator Jack Del Rio.

Johnthan Banks, CB (6-foot-2, 186 pounds) — Banks ran the 40-yard dash in 4.58 and 4.59 seconds, had a 4.28-second short shuttle, and a 34 1/2-inch vertical jump and 10-foot-6 broad jump. While his 40 time was slightly better than the 4.61 seconds he ran at the NFL Scouting Combine, Banks looked good in the positional workout.

Darius Slay, CB (6-0, 192) — Slay did not work out in the positional drills after pulling a muscle running the 60-yard shuttle. Slay did manage to do a 32 1/2-inch vertical jump. Slay posted the the best 40-yard dash time (4.36) among defensive backs at the combine.

Josh Boyd, DT (6-3, 307) — Boyd ran 5.18 and 5.12 in the 40, and 4.71 in the short shuttle. Boyd looked good in the defensive line drills run by Nunn. He also moved very well in the bag drills.

Chad Bumphis, WR (5-10 1/8, 196) — Bumphis ran the 40 in 4.58 and 4.52 seconds, 6.91 in the three-cone drill and 4.26 in the short shuttle. He had a 35-inch vertical and 9-10 broad jump, and performed 17 lifts of 225 pounds on the bench press.

Shane McCardell, DL (6-4 1/4, 247) — McCardell ran the 40 in 4.66 and 4.68 seconds, had a 4.38-second short shuttle and 7.09-second three-cone drill. He had a 35-inch vertical and 10-0 broad jump. He lifted 225 pounds on the bench 11 times. McCardell worked out both as a defensive lineman and linebacker at the Bulldogs’ pro day.

Neither Bumphis nor McCardell were invited to the combine, and each player is a possible rookie free-agent pickup this spring.

Johnthan Banks has slightly faster 40 at Mississippi State Pro Day - NFL.com

I'm curious if its Banks or Slay we might be interested in. I like the height in Banks but would have wanted him a little heavier, and faster.

W.T. Sherman is my favorite General. After all he did order Atlanta to be burned to the ground.

Those shuttle and cone drill times are interesting, so I'd bring McCardell in for a Free Agent Look - pass on the rest...

Then there's that kid from Northern Iowa that ran a 4.19 40.

Re: 2013 NFL Draft - Saints Big Board

Darius Slay, CB (6-0, 192) - i am always interested in the starting CB teams go after to avoid the star. i would look closer at him

Johnthan Banks, CB (6-foot-2, 186 pounds) Now I see why he played FS starting of in College. His Ball skills moved him to CB. I say back to FS/CB from CB/FS.

hmmm worth a peek for sure

Shane McCardell, DL (6-4 1/4, 247)

Josh Boyd, DT (6-3, 307)

"Note: Do you see any offensive tackles in the list?"

Doesn't really mean anything. They try to be sneaky, but judging by the record, they often outsmart themselves. Just sayin'...
