Right now it seems that due to injuries in the league Ingram could go for more than the face value of his card, wait until the off season or draft and injury could happen, better draft picks could happen, more things could happen to devalue him that increase his value. It's a gamble.

I just feel now is the wrong time as its a week before the start of the regular season

If we got a defensive player that we wanted to make an immediate impact would they have enough time to learn rob ryans scheme or would they have to be brought along slowly.

I think if we were to do it coming up to the draft next year no.1 we got a years play from ingram, no.2 if we get a player in the trade he has a full offseason and training camp with our team and no.3 like you correctly pointed out - our offense is successful due to the depth and versatility at RB, if ingram gets traded now it only takes PT to get injured and we are dangerously thin on the RB side.

I think if we were to get a years play out of ingram and trade him next year it would be a safe plan, sometimes gambles pay off (ambush) and sometimes you get burned by them

The waiting one more season could also have us with no Graham next year.... Who knows who else we could lose for any reason. We have to take each year and try to make IT better and worry about next year after.

actually if a trade was to happen were it helps the cap and get a solid value in return it would be this one

BUT that leaves us gambling big time with a young depth chart.

Has anybody in the 14 pages so far speculated that maybe the rumor is coming from the Giants side, that after what happened to Andre Brown the other night, they picked up the phone and called a bunch of people, including the Saints, and the Saints really have nothing to do with it except they answered the phone and are considering the offer to talk about it?

That seems really plausible to me. Somebody calling up and making a pitch for "hey, let's talk about Mark Ingram" doesn't necessarily mean he's on the auction block, or doesn't mean they are really in heavy duty talks on this. It could just be the Giants picking up the phone and feeling around to try and solve their problem. And it fits the guy's tweets, the vagueness and the lack of confirmable facts about the situation.

No one has assumed it came from the Saints side. Both teams have a side and both leak what they want to. Coming from the Giants doesn't make it any less of a rumor.

There have been details about offers listed.... That's a little more substantial than "hello".

Part of the reason I think "something" is going on is because we have released ZERO about keepers or cuts with 3 hours to go. Nada, nothing, zip, zilch...

Just because he was right about Tebow doesn't mean he had any kind of inside info. A ton of people were saying he was probably going to get cut. Parroting others is not "inside" information, and besides which if this guy was legit he wouldn't have such an axe to grind.

And just because a deal didn't go through that was in the works doesn't mean it was never in the works. A lot of deals that two parties go back and forth on never come to fruition.

Remember.... The guy didn't say Ingram was being traded, he said it was in the works... He also didn't say Tebow was being traded, he said he was being cut.

Read the op again.. "Being discussed 50/50 chance"
