Who ever we get will not be off the street and while a lot of defensive coordinators claim a defensive scheme there are only a few distinctly different different defensive schemes so all a player has to learn is the calls.
That first statement is very true; but, it does help with team chemistry - knowing the tendencies of your teammates and curbing your game to make the unit better is a very important aspect of developing a unit...
