I heard an interesting point on a local Sunday morning show about the refs ... the way the NFL has gone with regulating the game, they don't know their jobs or how to do their jobs anymore, so they err on the side of caution making calls rather than screw up by not making a call. This is evidenced by the fact you're seeing a lot of games with three/four major penalty calls, many late in the game, many being deciding factors in the outcome of a game.
There was other stuff and I'm trying to find it online somewhere, but this is what basically stuck with me about the current officiating in the NFL. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, it is what it is. |
