Loss to pats on Payton and Brees

this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; Yes the officiating was questionable but to me its bad two minute management on the o. U never give brady or manning or brees that many tries to win the game after the d stops then twice. Better the pats ...

Better the pats than the bears conference wise but i did like the fight the saints showed to come back from a ten point deficit in a very hostile foxboro.

Brees missing Toon really hurt. That was a gimme route.

Football CEO laid what NE had to do to control the Saints offense ... He called it perfectly ...

Re: Loss to pats on Payton and Brees

This is on Payton, completely. The D got a freakin' TURNOVER with a 4 point lead with less than 3 minutes left. The Pats had 1 timeout and the 2 minute warning, but we do nothing with the possession and punt it back to Brady with 1:13 left and 70 yards to go with no timeouts. You do not give Brady a 2nd chance to win a game. Payton is squarely to blame for this one. But I'll take 5-1 going into a bye week with a "tougher-than-you'd-think" Buffalo team next. Payton is the blame today, but I have faith he'll get over this quickly.

I am not going to put the loss on any one thing. However, if I had to, the inability to run out the clock after Brady's interception would be right up there. That was really terrible and something basic I would think they would have on point.

Re: Loss to pats on Payton and Brees

In a recent thread, someone mention that the Saints don't need to have a solid running game to be a dominant offense as long as we have Brees, Graham, etc. Well, New England defense (without Woolfork up front) showed us otherwise.

Brees had an okay game, Graham was shut out and then limped out and the running game was hit and miss. Not to mention some questionable play calling at crunch time. It's time for Coach Payton and Co. to flip the script, if you will. They have the Bye Week to straighten this out, if we ever gonna see another Super Bowl. Our defense can only do so much (and at times, it's Letdown City) and our offense has to do better at putting games away at crunch time....

Re: Loss to pats on Payton and Brees

It was almost the exact same scenario in both week 1 and week 2

D bails us out multiple times, offense puts up 400 yards of offense but cant a first down when it really matters

Only difference was we won those games

This game should be an eye opener, every person even announcers were calling this a win with 2:30 left to play and Payton got stupid with the offense and let brady back on the field

I wish I could slap the **** out of somebody right now, that's the only thing that would make me feel better.

Xan is right, but on the last play.

Greer on a WR by himself in the back corner of the endzone.... That's gift wrapping a TD for Brady.

No excuse for single coverage.

Cant double every receiver though, greer should have been able to hold his own, brady would find holes down the middle with mismatches if we doubled outside

The play calling, clock management and lackluster offense at the end blew it, i wont blame the D, even if keenan lewis made an absolute pathetic decision and threw the patriots receiver out of bounds
