NEW Mark Ingram thread (post Dallas)

His performance was SICK tonight! He showed up the naysayers and I'm impressed. Definitely looks like he wants to earn those 1st round draft picks we used to move up and get the guy.

I've been critical, but only what he deserved. I have nothing against the guy and hope he rocks it out every week like this.

Kudos to the o-line blowing open the holes. Even-though Dallas was injured, that's part of the game and we had no mercy. A great performance. Congrats to Mark Ingram for showing his desire to get back into the fold!

WE APPRECIATE YOU MI! WHO DAT!!

Great game! Cowboys defense is horrible.

Re: NEW Mark Ingram thread (post Dallas)

What I liked is that he didn't just get his yards in garbage time, he ripped off long runs early in the game also

Very good game by MI, got an early drop out the way and really showed what he can do with decent blocking.

A few of those runs he kind of looked like Ivory. Bust it up the gut, find somebody to hit and 30 yards later... :bng:

Dude is healthy (finally!). We didn't just run it with him either, tossed him some screens and threw some passes with him in. Could be the shot in the arm we needed.

I think we should give Peyton some credit for still believing in him and feeding him the ball. He did have his best game but give us a little consistantcy and we will all be believers.

Let's not get ahead of ourselves. Dallas' run defense is horrid.

Re: NEW Mark Ingram thread (post Dallas)

He just increased his YPC for the season from 2.4 to about 5.6. Small sample size since he only has 35 carries on the season, but still....It looks a whole lot better on paper.

Re: NEW Mark Ingram thread (post Dallas)

I am guilty for booing him after his dropped pass tonight. Then the announcer called us boo birds, haha. I told my lady we aren't booing because we don't like him, but we are just wanting him to prove us wrong, and tonight that SOB did!!!! Cheers to Ingram and hopefully he will just keep proving us wrong. :)

Glad he is momentarily out of the dog house. I didn't care for the fans booing him but early but it was deserved. Dropping an easy pass like that, Payton put a lot of faith in him. Come on.

I'd say they had every reason to be upset early this season. I was shocked today. Lets hope he can keep it up.

Re: NEW Mark Ingram thread (post Dallas)

One thing I noticed early on was that he seemed to be trying so hard and was even hard on himself after the drop and a "I should have cut back left" moment after a short-yardage gain to the right. Then he got his first long run for a first down to the left that got him the delay of game penalty (BS in my mind). After those instances, he seemed to harness that energy on pummeling the Dallas defense. Good game, Ingram.

Lets temper expectations please. Dallas is the worst defense in the NFL and they also lost another 3 starters during the game. Ingram really didn't show up until the boys gave up.

Let's see what Ingram does against the niners next week. He performs well in that game then I will eat crow.

yep MI lovers post a thread for every success. That should tell you something. IF MI messed up 1-4 games of 16, Id be fine. Problem is he only does well 1-4 games of 16.

What about the haters? There were multitudes of threads about cutting him when he wasn't running well early in the season...

That happens when MI does not run well most of the time, and he does not. Ive of the mind that he has this season. But pretty clear his overall performance is not great, so he needs to continue doing well. Not 1 game. Im sick of flashes of greatness, and hes still has a problem beating the 1st man. He had great cuts , but that was OL.
Your not a RB unless you can beat the 1st guy.

I knew it was coming. Ingram and colston got their fair share of carries/catches tonight. JUST what they/we needed!

You do realize he was battling an injury most of the year? And it's not just M.I., the O-Line hasn't been great at run-blocking. Kind of like RR, I guess the lack of a run-game deserves a scapegoat though :rolleyes:

yeah, I know, but if hes not durable thats a problem also. I dont see AP crying about his #26th ranked OL. AP produces just fine with no excusses, like PT. IF MI needs a giant hole made by the OL hes no RB, simple.

Re: NEW Mark Ingram thread (post Dallas)

I been silent on Ingram only for the fact its not like the other RBs are going anywhere either, tonight they all did and Ingram shined more.

I think when Sean makes it less obvious that its a run play, Ingram will shine.

PT = 3.8 ypc

MI 5.6 ypc

PT = 13 long

MI = 34 long

Yeah I see how PT produces with a not so great O-Line...

What part of MI was battling injuries did you not understand? and it seems with a great O-Line, MI outshined PT tonight... just sayin'

Re: NEW Mark Ingram thread (post Dallas)

Very happy for Mark. VERY happy. Of course next week we will be dealing with a team that, well, next week's team will have a defense. Still happy for MI - I still believe our o-line is his biggest issue, and yes, PT seems to do better behind that line, but image PT and MI behind a line that could run block. We'd be freaking unstoppable.

IF hes not durable then he will never be great. Good RB's dont need a great OL. Anyone can run for 20 yards threw a giant hole mitch without being touched. Good RB's beat the 1st guy always or more, or they are not a RB. I was taught that when I ran. Anyone can run for 20-40 yards and get tackled by the 1st guy. Thats OL, not a RB. Good RB's almost always beat the 1st guy.

PT broke many tackles, and beat the 1st guy. You dont always win. You seriously saying that MI ran better than PT tonight ? or that MI is a better RB than PT?
Thats nuts

Seriously? Makes absolutely no sense... MI has a great game because PT beat the first guy?

MI ran 14 for 145 10.4 avg and PT 17 for 87 5.1 avg behind the same line against the same defense

And yes I believe that MI can be a better RB than PT with adequate carries and a decent blocking O-Line, proved tonight!

what ? PT is a real RB, and a better RB. MI had 1 good day out of many many bad ones, yahoo. To me hes not a good RB yet.

OMG, Ingram and PT both had good games. For once we had a great running game and a dominating win, and you guys are going to ruin it with stupid petty arguments? Get a life.

Well I disagree. Great RBs might not need a great OL, but good RBs can certainly become great running behind a great OL (See Emmit Smith). Mark has struggled and some of that is on him, but when he has just a little room, well, we all saw it.

I'm not saying his worries are over. That remains to be seen, but none of our backs have been good THIS year, and that's on the OL in my humble opinion.
