Then again there maybe a grain of truth to desire or lack of. as a pass rushing DT, which the saints do not have, he may just be what the doctor order for the DL.

He is one of those player high risk high reward in the first. 50-59 as to whether or not the pick pays off. I could live with the pick but i would be holding my breath till i see what we got.
Hagen, I hold my breath on all of our picks to be honest. I believe this guy with the players we have now would give us the best DL in the NFL.

Re: 2014 NFL Draft

Rob Ryan is one of my favorite targets to bust chops about, as everyone knows, but the one thing i have always given him credit for is LB talent. he always builds one the leagues best LB units no matter were he lands as a coach.

So seeing him checking out Christian Jones makes me happy

New Orleans Saints defensive coordinator Rob Ryan, who paid particular attention to Seminoles senior linebacker Christian Jones for most of the day, also was on hand, as was Steelers offensive coordinator Todd Haley.

Christian Jones ILB/OLB Florida ST. 6031 240 4.74

I can't skip past this kid. going into the season i he was a top of the second type of player. Now 3 round? 4th round? i am amazed. Florida St did not do this kid any favors moving to OLB/DE this year. He belongs AT ILB in a 34 all day long. If you ever got to watch him at ILB he just had a knack for putting players in the right spot and diagnosing plays. Then again being able to play OLB also is a plus. For a team looking for depth/starter at the LB position i can write the kid of. Jack of all trades is killing his stock it appears. he could end up being a third round gem for this defense.

The key factor i keep running across about the kid is this

He was lined up on slot receivers (shut down Sammy Watkins) and tight ends through out his career and blanketed them with ease. great pursuit and closing speed to cover running backs out of the flats. Excellent open field tackler

Big negative: over aggressiveness

Everyone has him pegged as a 43OLB which i can see but i think the ILB in a 34 is completely over looked. Rob Ryan seems to take notice. He may need a bit of coaching and settle in the LB rotation but the learning curve should not be too step.

Re: 2014 NFL Draft

No, I'm talking about a mid round move similar to the one which landed us John Jenkins.

If we could jump back into the 3rd for Telvin Smith or Jarvis Landry

Right, we'd probably have to trade our first for an early second to pick up a third round pick...

And I'd also prefer to trade back and have several picks in the mid round of this particular draft...

We used two 4th rounders to get Jenkins.

Re: 2014 NFL Draft

I believe we may need to go OL here first. I think center is important because we need to be ready for the pass rushers we have next season. And then receiver.
