While KVN may be more rounded, Ford is WAY more of impact player. The Saints need impact and playmakers on defene. 1. NT Nix - BPA and adds to the best young DL rotation in the NFL. 2. CB Jean-Baptiste - Playmaker/Shutdown CB with size. 3. C Swanson - Anchors the line for years to come. 4. SS Dixon - BPA. Ryan likes 3 safties. Insurance for KV's health. 5. K Boswell - Kicking problem solved. 5. OLB Powell - 2nd round ability. Drops due to injury's. Mean/forceful. 6. WR Janis - Colston part deux with more speed. |

Those 2 would give us a very disruptive front line.

Re: 2014 NFL Draft
Cherokee Tribune - Attaochu joins Georgia Tech teammates for pro day
He missed the leagues scouting combine last month in Indianapolis, but went through requisite interviews with several NFL teams, including Tennessee, the New York Jets, New Orleans, Cincinnati, Buffalo, Philadelphia and the New York Jets. Johnson said the team that drafts Attaochu, a science, technology and culture major who ranks as the Atlantic Coast Conferences No. 5 career leader with 31.5 sacks, wont regret it. He brings the total package. Not only will he be a great player. Hell be a great representative off the field as well. |

Re: 2014 NFL Draft
Round 1 - 27
So many freaking factors, Just give me impact, a game changer, the keystone But from here on out i know what i want and think i have been honest as to availability and reach. Round 2 - 58 - Weston Richburg OC/OG Colorado St, 6033 300 5.10 Pittsburgh defensive tackle Aaron Donald gets all the raves after the senior bowl and sky rockets up draft boards. BUT Weston was the only player to handle Donald all week at the Senior Bowl. So there is proof once again OC get no respect! He lightning quick and has all the bag of tricks, better yet he knows how to use them. football IQ is second to none. arm length 33 3/8 nice. Durable, 49-game starter. also seeing duty at guard and tackle. How he fits - sweeps, screens and shows impressive quickness and change of direction Makes all of the line calls and keeps his head on a swivel to help teammates when uncovered. By no means a finished product either. needs to add some bulk and work on blocking at the second level and run blocking. get him some nasty to his game Drop off at OC is to great for the saints to wait. besides i will be slightly surprised if he is on the board. coach the kid up and you got something special in the making. next Alex Mack? Maybe not but hell be your starting center for the next 10 years. Round 3 - 91 - Charles Simm RB WVU 6000 214 4.48 ok he doesnt have a lot of wiggle, but he can hit the home run and he is probably the best running back in terms of running, blocking and combination of catching. Sound familiar? PT JR. Over the years we have learned the worth of a back that can do it all in our offense and well PT aint getting any younger. You have the Battle between Ingram and Robinson for the power back roll. Also there is Cadet, a player i have been waiting for but i have just about given up on, He aint Darren but he can help fill the void. One of the best all around backs in recent years, Round 4 - 126 - Dontae Johnson; CB/S, North Carolina State 6021 200 4.45 Johnson is an underrated ball hawk who has played both corner back and safety in college, and hes also spent time as the teams slot defender. Here is my first true Developmental pick for the draft. Here is why 2013: Started all 12 games, with five at corner back and seven at free safety. 2012: Started all 13 games. corner back 2011: Played in 13 games and started two at linebacker in a 4-2-5 lineup. 2010: Played in 12 games and started one. versatility and plenty of upside to coach with and has played all over the place with a solid level of success at each one. Solid tackling skills, solid run support and coverage ability above average but needs some coaching up and time at one position to develop. 2 to 3 three years you might have a gem for the draft. I am gambling that he will last this long and hope his measurable do not move him higher up the board. At the same time i maybe reaching. lol Man Crush from the Beauty shows: 11.06 60-yard shuttle. dam. Round 5 - 167 - Russell Bodine OG/OC North Carolina 6031 310 5.18 Nasty Nasty Nasty. Love a guy that likes to finish blocks. Good initial quickness and power and projects nicely as either a center or guard. Very good at sealing and turning defenders in the run game to create small creases. Pass Blocking needs work but nothing coaching can not solve. Works well at the second level. Should be ready to step in when all the big contract at OG are up for renewal. In the mean time you have a swing man at both OG position and can step right in at OC in a pinch without to much of a hitch in the offense. Saints go from a BIG ? in the middle to problem solved in just two picks. Round 5 - 169 - Kevin Norwood WR Alabama 6020 198 4.48 possession receiver, reliable hands, good route runner, Plenty of experience in the slot, outside he works the side lines extremely well, adjusts well to poorly placed balls, impressive catch radius.solid effort in his blocking game. Nothing to amaze you just a solid all around WR. with a draft so deep at WR there is no way he would be around in any other draft this late. BARGAIN BASEMENT SHOPPING Round 6 - 202 - Deandre Coleman DT/DE UCLA 6046 314 5.06 (1.73) Versatile, violent break-out interior disruptor. Great size with decent length and overall athleticism...... blah blah blah. Run stuffer at this point that needs to get some serious coaching up in the pass rush department. then he got to Senior Bowl he pushed Oklahoma's Gabe Ikard and Arkansas' Travis Swanson all over the field. but it left people questioning where this passionate play all season. In other words are you getting a contract year only type of player. . BUT the talent is there so here is my "wild card" pick as diamond in the rough that can sever as part of the rotation and as time goes by and the coaching sinks in and the players boot in his butt, we may have found ourselves with a solid rotation when Bunkley comes up for contract renewal. If he is a player that preforms when it is a money year you have not risk much. Take the high risk high rewards in this round. remember he came into the season as a solid third round prospect with a bullet. started just 13 games over his career |

Re: 2014 NFL Draft
Richburg warrants a late second round pick, but as deep as the skill positions are, I'd pass and grab Bodine in the 5th round and develop him as Armstead...
Sims is ago but the Georgia Southern RB Jerrick McKinnon has more upside (strength, speed) and can be had with a fourth round pick; and we have time this season with the RB depth we have... If Norwood slips to the fifth as many project, it'd be a shame because he has the makings of a long pro career with his skill set and had better speed than he's given credit; he'll have to work, but he'll be a great teammate... Don't get nor like players like Coleman; all that talent, and you hate to use the word lazy without knowing a player, but that's what comes to mind, and for what the NFL life can do for someone, can't stand players that take it for granted... Dontae Johnson ever gets settled at a position and learns his craft, he's gonna surprise; and if he works hard, he'd be comparable to Richard Sherman, taken late, developed, top flight at his positon... |

Jerrick McKinnon read-option quarterback, Raw at RB and WR not to mention abilty to block. great athlete but needs a ton of work. I am looking at win now before Drew is done here.

But i also look at the fact that the the entire defense was under performing and there was reported issues in the locker room and coaching. in other words cal was all messed up inside and it showed on the field, Bears went 0-9 in the Pac-12 in the first season for coach Sonny Dykes. It is a little difficult learning three different systems in 3 years , which also changed his role from year to year. even with that he was a pretty solid contributor all year and also got more attention from other teams than the year before. There is the flip side of the story also, if the program and his training was not so messed up i would not go with him as a diamond in a rough which has its own risk but a wild card diamond in the rough is a bit riskier i admit. It is the upside with the kid at this point in the draft is to great not to justify the risks involved with the pick when you look at the big picture. it is a gut thing but i think the senior bowl was a fresh new start for him. roll the dice and see what the interviews reveal |
