Options open up and they could package Ingram/Sproils in one of those funky trade with picks and players and also end up with Sims/white later in draft. i perfer Sims If the gamble pays off and both of the rookies work out great in 2014 the saints would be sitting pretty cap wise in 2015 as far as the RB position goes. No pressure to sign players or cut players. you would be saving money going into the 2015 off season at the RB position. It's all a gamble but when your hampered by the cap you gotta take some risks. this year is looks to be a good year to gamble at RB because the RB styles fit the saints mold |

Re: PT23 and Sprolles Replacement 2014?
Here's our RB situation... (UPDATED)
Pierre Thomas, 29 yrs, Last Year of Contract, $2.9 mil Cap Number, $2.9mil Cap Savings, $0mil Dead Money Darren Sproles, 30 yrs, Last Year of Contract, $4.25mil Cap Number, $3.5mil Cap Savings, $0.75mil Dead Money [GONE] Mark Ingram, 24 yrs, Last Year of Rookie Contract, $2.36mil Cap Number, $1.38mil Cap Savings, $0.98mil Dead Money (rounded figures) Khiry Robinson, 24 yrs, Contract through 2015, $495,333 Cap Number, $494,666 Cap Savings, $667 Dead Money Travaris Cadet, 25 yrs, Last Year of Rookie Contract, $571,668 Cap Number, $570,000 Cap Savings, $1,668 Dead Money So we have five (5) running backs under contract with four (4) of those contracts expiring after this upcoming season... Two (2) of those running backs will be 30+ years old at the end of the season... Two (2) of the younger running backs had a strong finish to last season and playoffs but have no history of doing it for all 16 games with 10+ touches per game... So with the Saints offense, multiple schemes, multiple roles, multiple responsibilities, and four (4) of the five (5) RBs in the last year of their contracts, would it not be prudent to acquire one (1) even two (2) RBs this season to compete and acclimate to the Saints offense... No one's necessarily hating on the amazing resumes of PT or Sproles here in New Orleans - it's just reality of age and NFL economics are dictating something should be done this season... |
It's not that my way is the right way, I just make the right way my way...

I don't think we're going to attack teams how we've been attacking them since Payton was hired..New style backs..

I love some of the scat backs coming out but at the same time, if Cadet remains on the roster, it's time to see what he can offer.

Draft best available first round. We usually have bad luck reaching to fill a need in the first.
