If our defense wouldn't give up 500 yards per game we wouldn't be having this discussion because we'd be 2-0.
Your point makes no sense.

Offense? Sorry...ain't and will not buy that. You look at execution on the D side, and you see out-of-position personnel, bad angles, very little D-line pressure, slow MLB'ers, and forcing turnovers being as rare as non-alcoholic moonshine.

Re: After further Review: Examining why the Saints defense stinks

Courtesy of coldhardfootballfacts.com (I'm paraphrasing here): From 2008 to the 2013 halfway point, teams with +1 or higher turnover ratio were 882-237. I'm bettin' you could like go all the back to 1950 and it'd be about the same. It's still about 75% odds you win a football game if you force more than you give away in a game. With our offense, that makes the difference between close games lost or won in the last minutes and us delivering a resounding beat-down. This concludes my seminar on winning in the NFL...please exit the classroom without any obscene gestures.

"Two weeks in, the numbers for Ryan's unit don't lie.
His defense, for now, stinks."

After reading this article I feel less confident then ever. It appears are defense is in total disarray. Something is just not right with Rob Ryan and his approach this year. What is going on?????

Those numbers are the results. That explains nothing.

The reason why we suck is because the defensive unit is not organized or communicating.

Re: After further Review: Examining why the Saints defense stinks

The defense played a bit better in Cleveland, giving up 19 points and far less yards than in Atlanta. (7 of the 26 points Cleveland scored stemmed from a bad Drew Brees throw).

Maybe our defense is a work in progress and maybe it's improving.

I predict when all is said and done, our defense will end up ranked #17th or so, and our offense will end up ranked #1 or #2.

We go 12-4 and lock up the number one seed.

Our offense is in the upper echelon of teams, in just about every statistical category (including rushing now). Again. Our defense is fighting for the lowest ring in the league, in just about every statistical category. Again. We had Atlanta dead to rights until we decided to play bumper cars, just like we did on Beast Mode. How in your head is that worthy of "equal blame"? Come on now.

Our defense stinks because the defensive game plan makes players hold their nose.
