So who we trading up for in the first round?! You know we won't sit idly by with the ammunition to trade up.

He then goes to a non-guaranteed $4.5 million in both 2014 and 2015, then falls again to $4.25 million non-guaranteed with a $250,000 roster bonus in 2016. There are escalators in base salary that remain undisclosed.

Big Graham fan, but he went quiet in big games. I like the move.

Re: Saints Trade Graham to the Seahawks
If Amari Cooper is there at 13, do we pick him? To me he was the best WR in college last year.

Re: Saints Trade Graham to the Seahawks
I don't like it! I don't like it! Sending him to the freakin pedhawks, hopefully Graham is more injured than thought or we just made a stupid trade just for a center (while we have Lelito ) plus giving up a 4th rd. we only get a 1st rd pick (32) might as well be a second for Graham, dayum, I just don't see the light at the end of the tunnel

Re: Saints Trade Graham to the Seahawks
I think the deal is fair. I think it was a win win for both teams.
Drew now has a couple extra seconds to survey the field, and our run game should improve, especially if we upgrade one of the OG's as well. We also get some more cap relief to spend on some defense. And Seattle got the 2nd best TE in the league. |
Re: Saints Trade Graham to the Seahawks
Think it is completely cap related and our need for a center was huge. we all said this last season, our line needs to get better in order for us to be better. Center was our most inconsistent position, no doubt about it.

Re: Saints Trade Graham to the Seahawks
And Graham was getting paid way too much. We could have paid 2 big name defenders or an o-lineman and d-lineman with that pay.
Graham has been hurt two seasons in a row. That super pay he gets depends on him being healthy 100% of the time which isn't the case. |
Re: Saints Trade Graham to the Seahawks
I think Graham has a high probability of struggling next year. I think his success was due largely to Drew Brees prowess as a passer. We will see.
|
Re: Saints Trade Graham to the Seahawks
Man, now that this has sunk in a little more I can't tell you how much I love this deal. I was sick and tired of forced passes to Graham in double and triple coverage. Our offense was at it's best when Drew had time to spread the ball around. Plus, extra first round pick!!!

Re: Saints Trade Graham to the Seahawks
PFT:
So why did the Saints move on from tight end Jimmy Graham? It wasn’t an easy decision, but there were several important reasons for it. Per a source with knowledge of the situation, the Saints decided that the opportunity to acquire another first-round draft pick from the Seahawks and the ability to jettison Graham’s contract would allow them to devote resources to improve a defense that needs plenty of help. More importantly, the Saints believe that they can and will move the ball without Graham on the roster. He’s had injury issues the last two years, and the Saints were pleased with the production in his absence. Also, the team ultimately saw no real correlation between Graham’s performance and team success. While the move doesn’t create much if any 2015 cap space, it gives the Saints extra cash and clears Graham’s big-money deal from last July off the books. |
Re: Saints Trade Graham to the Seahawks
I guess time will tell if this was good or not.
I really liked Jimmy though. It's gonna suck seeing him out there with the Seahawks. Ugh. |
Re: Saints Trade Graham to the Seahawks
The #Jaguars have traded TE Marcedes Lewis to the #Saints. In less than an hour, New Orleans ships one Tight End out, trades for another.
