As a Gopher alum i would love the pick. Great hands and attitude plus he blocks. Jason Witten? i can go there but witten never had this kids athletic ability. 3rd? sorry second round, if he is there at 45 and TE is your target you need to take him then. |

Dont shoot me,i know its Sanders BUT
Deion Sanders @DeionSanders 19m19 minutes ago For the Saints to let Jimmy Graham go being 1 of the best TE's in the game they know something we don't. #Truth And im sure the same thing will be said by Seahawks insiders.front office. |

Imagine if we signed Browner, tramon Williams and Mason foster!
I hope we hear news about Foster soon. |

Re: Saints Trade Graham to the Seahawks
Ok, Josh Hill is not Jimmy Graham. Unger, we now have a center. Seahags 1st round pick. i don't know. Why all this hate on Jimmy? he was hurt last year. Did i miss something?

It doesn't. We address defensive improvement with defensive moves. If we sign a CB how does it help or OL? If we sign a OG how does it help our LB's? If we sign a LB how does it help our WR's? Jeez, sometimes I think we have the dumbest fanbase in the NFL |
Re: Saints Trade Graham to the Seahawks
The question that will be answered is how much of JG's production was JG's talent and how much of it stemmed from Sean's offense and Brees' HOF career...

Re: Saints Trade Graham to the Seahawks
I trust Peyton's judgment, but it is hard to believe they couldn't get more than a center whose health is suspect, and a 2 1/2 round improvement for one pick.

Re: Saints Trade Graham to the Seahawks
If Unger comes in and stabilizes the Oline it will do more to improve this team than keeping JG. Not playing down Jimmy's value or talent but giving Drew protection will go a lot further than one receiver.
That's if with a capital I though. |
Re: Saints Trade Graham to the Seahawks
I posted this in the Max Unger thread, but I'll post it here as well... From Pro Football Focus:
Saints: Balanced Unger solidifies center spot Ben Stockwell | March 10, 2015 There may be some consternation about the Saints giving up Jimmy Graham in this trade but they have at least acquired one of the league’s premier centers and upgraded a fourth round pick to a first round pick with it. Though fans won’t be swooning over Max Unger’s play-making ability, he ties down the center of the Saints’ line with a quality blocker in both the run and pass games. This season injuries limited Unger to 385 snaps in the regular season but some punishing and consistent run blocking in those limited snaps ensured he finished as our No. 4 ranked center. Only twice in his nine starts last season did Unger grade below zero and he graded above +1.0 in six of those games. But for injury this season looked like being a match for Unger’s 2012 season where he earned a +31.1 overall grade, built around his run blocking where he never earned a run block grade below -1.0 all season long. The loss of Graham will be felt in New Orleans and the Saints will need plans in place to replace him, but their offense has always been at its strongest when it has balance, and that balance is centered on their offensive line. With Jahri Evans starting to decline the Saints have moved to lock down their interior offensive line with the acquisition of Unger and having re-signed Mark Ingram we may yet see a re-emphasis of the running game in New Orleans this season. |

I hope that there are a lot of 6'8" power forwards at the end of the draft.

Re: Saints Trade Graham to the Seahawks
On the whole, I'm glad we did this. This is the "get your sh*t together" move Saints fans have been waiting for since the Cowboys game last season. Taking away Brees and Payton's favorite toy like this - it's a rubicon of sorts. Big time wake-up call for the team. And I bet it helps it out financially at least long-term.
How the trade works out remains to be seen based on (A) Unger's health, (B) what the Saints do with the late 1st round pick and (C) if Seattle can integrate Graham as a WR/TE into a very different style of offense than the Saints had. And finally, good luck to Jimmy. Nothing personal with him but the team dynamic was going to crap. Some of it Jimmy's fault and a good part of it the fault of others. We really needed to go in a different direction. |

So what to do with my Graham jersey? Perhaps I can pick off the 80 and replace with a 3 and pretend it was a Shayne Graham jersey all along :P

From what some other people are saying, we are getting more than just a 1st rounder in the trade. Supposedly it was said on ESPN, can anyone verify this.

Re: Saints Trade Graham to the Seahawks
I'm not all that upset Graham was traded. I'm more upset on where Graham is going, I don't get why you give a team that's been the NFC Conference Champ two years in a row a potentially deadly offensive weapon like Graham.
A healthy Unger gives the Saints a much improved running game, more time for Brees to throw and could make play action deadly again for this offense. It sucks to loose Graham but sometimes you have to spend money to make money. |

Re: Saints Trade Graham to the Seahawks
The idea of Jimmy play for Seattle doesn't sit particularly well with me, and I am very surprised by this, but I can't say I'm disappointed in the deal itself.
In 2011, I thought he was great. Ever since then, we've been forcing the ball to him seemingly just to keep him happy, because we sure had other weapons. That bogged us down, plus he had a knack for dropping critical passes. Yes he did some great things and all that great stuff, but these were my complaints about him before they re-signed him last year. It seems the Saints figured it out, and got what they could get before he goes and blows out a knee and loses value. |
