Saints restructure Drew Brees deal, push more cap hit to future

this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; You guys can feel however you want but this season is far from over and it's obvious the team hasn't given up. Not to paint too pretty of a picture here, but all three losses went down to the wire ...

Not to paint too pretty of a picture here, but all three losses went down to the wire and we lost by shooting ourselves in the foot.

3 starters coming back from injury.
1 more player could make an impact.
Anything can happen.

Like 3-3 and a game back by week six.

I never thought they were giving up (other than Sean's punt decision near the end of the Arizona game) but they just aren't very good. Arizona is a good team, but we lost to a horrible Tampa team and a banged up Carolina. Yes we have our injuries, but we don't have enough play makers on offense right now, and all the injuries are on the defensive side. It'll be nice if Byrd and Lewis come back healthy enough to help us, but we also haven't played a particularly tough schedule yet. I wonder just how much of a difference they can make.

A healthy Brees makes us competitive, but not playoff competitive, especially with the hole we're already in. I hope I'm wrong, obviously. We shall see.

If I had a nickel for every time I heard that, the NFL would fine and suspend me.

Yup someone is on SP's radar. Agreed games are very close! A win against the Cow's will swing the momentum.

I'm all for optimism but come on. This season is over. There is not one or even two new players that are going to help us. what one player or two even are you gonna get for 3 mil a year to save this team

You don't understand matchups, we have played our toughest matchups already and are entering into our easy stretch.

Also, we have started out 0-4 twice and turned around got to .500 only for us to play a trap game against St.Louis and a home game against strongly contending SF team.

Say we get to .500 before the bye here is who we have after

@Houston
Carolina
@Tampa Bay
Detroit
Jacksonville
@Atlanta

After Houston we have Carolina at home, TB, Detroit and Jacksonville at home. I believe if we are 5-5 going into the bye we could be 9-6 going into Atlanta the last game. However I actually think we could go into the bye at 6-4 if we win in Indy.

I could see 5-5 at the bye, then win 5 out of 6 to finish 10-6.
