Not to paint too pretty of a picture here, but all three losses went down to the wire and we lost by shooting ourselves in the foot.

3 starters coming back from injury.
1 more player could make an impact.
Anything can happen.

Like 3-3 and a game back by week six.
Yup someone is on SP's radar. Agreed games are very close! A win against the Cow's will swing the momentum.

People have been screaming for Drew to restructure or something about his contract. Well, he's done it and we don't know why. Head scratcher.

I don't have cap numbers handy at my disposal, and thus I obviously don't study all the numbers. But I'm guessing that when people we hear reports about cap issues for next year, it's because they factoring salary hikes along with the projected cap raise. And this deal is adding to that issue.

It's because this isn't a cost reducing move. It's just a pay me later move.

Yes but it allows the ability to sign a player this year that is in need and pay me later part can be absorb in an extension and also as the cap number climbs. This year $143 million next year it's supposed to increase to $160 million.

Will they give Jahri Evans a raise?

We'll have to wait and see what they have in mind.

Right now it's just befuddling speculation.

Right, but as I said to you in another reply, there will be rising salaries as well. Mickey has been back-loading contracts for years, and it's precisely why we're in the predicament we're in. It's fine and dandy to bring in a player for now, but who exactly are we going to get at this point and how many times are we going to keep making the same mistakes that put us in a hole?

Also, given Drew's injury and age I don't think an extension would be a good idea.

Heard on the radio Payton talking about TE. He is not happy with the production so far and said we need some help there. His exact words.

We know Mickey won't clear it any other way.
I have no doubt Brees will do the Brady-type extension after this season. The future cap will not be an issue. The cap limit is rising a significant amount each year and there is no end to that trend in sight. Pushing cap hit to the future is smart finance. This is nothing but cost accounting 101. And, yes, I do have an accounting degree ... as does Loomis.
