You are spot on IMO burningmetal. The defense has shown some improvement with the exception of a couple slackers. Take Brandon Browner and all of his killer penalties and missed tackles out of the equation, how much better would this defense look?
IMO the offense is gone and done. When Mccown started, we slimmed it down and it worked. Last week it seemed we were pretty much doing the same thing but with Drew. Now this game they didn't. When your Offense is struggling and your O line is acting like a turnstile at a little wayne concert, where is the adjustment? Where are the quick strike plays? IMO the blame is on the coaching. Im with Danno with, its time to blow this **** up. Payton has no answers, he looks defeated, he is no longer motivated. His assistants are washed up and just collecting a paycheck. If The upper Brass can get the right personnel in here, we have the players to make this work. |

1. No one is excusing anything. 2. The score doesn't count yards, it counts points. And when the game mattered, the Eagles could have scored 11 points and won the game. But go ahead and pile up on the coach that has 6 rookies starting on defense (especially one that seems to get flagged for merely looking wrong at WRs) and doesn't have the freedom to bring his own assistant coaches. The thread title should read fire Payton, not RR. |

Re: For the love of Peat, FIRE RR
I never thought RR was a good hire to start with based on his previous record and experience. And he did surprisingly well but couldn't maintain his edge the following seasons.
We were moving into a 3-4 and now we're playing a 4-3......how can anyone expect to succeed as a DC with a head coach who just has to meddle with something at all times? Loomis has let Payton make too many questionable decisions and needs to tighten control over the franchise. The long term plan has been ineffective the last few years. We need a new game plan that will change our course. Too many misses on free agents and terrible drafting hasn't helped but our approach needs a new beginning. Oh yes, fire the D-line coach.......and the O-line coach too while we're at it. |

I haven't been watching the games but the best fix fo a defense is a good running game.

Re: For the love of Peat, FIRE RR
I've said this all year. DA hasn't helped one bit and is as guilty as RR for the results we're seeing.

Re: For the love of Peat, FIRE RR
The Scientific Method would say to change only one variable and hold all the others constant to see what (if anything) then improves. Limit big change to only one on each side of the ball. But, we appear to have so many possibilities, it is tempting to make whole scale changes.
The good news is we revamped our personnel who draft. We have starters who should no longer be starting: WR Colston, ROT Streif, ROG Evan, LB Hawthorne. Maybe NT Jenkins. Maybe our punter. We've starters who should never have been our best to start if we knew how to draft: Lelito, half our LB corps, half our DL, half our secondary. We have starters who should have their roles reduced: RB Ingram, CB Browner, our Safeties. Maybe NT Jenkins. Whoever is OLB opposite Kikaha. We need new schemes or new personnel to stop the passes to the TE and the runs up the middle. And a possession WR to play with Cooks and Snead. We need to sit Brees until he is healed or whatever else is wrong until he can deal with the OL we do have. He's holding the ball too long and making decisions/throws/ducks that should be or are picked off. We have coaches who still need to go: Vitt and other position coaches for a while now. Maybe RR. We have coaches who should have their roles reduced. SP (play-calling). Maybe RR. We should explore any trade opportunities...players (Ingram, maybe Jordan) and coaches. Well, Coach. Don't like the risk on that one. |

I'm sorry but that's just how it is. This sucks to say but are you willing to risk Drew Brees health to be a top five defense in two years? I'm not. |

Re: For the love of Peat, FIRE RR
Is it RR or the fact that rookies had no one to learn from?
