He doesn't need to take a discount... Just extend his contract by a year or two and shift money into a 2016 signing bonus making it a front-loaded contract where he makes essentially the same next year without the cap issues.

It's the Tom Brady move. He did this and the media pleasures themselves raw over how amazing it was that he took a "pay cut" even though he ended up making the same amount just without the same cap hit to the team.
