this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; He's not leaving. Pretty sure I heard Tasker during the game say that the Saints had two options: pay Brees 30 million next year or restructure, letting him walk would be a horrible decision...

At the very least let him have the power to fire some of these scouts and hold a few people accountable. Its obvious Payton wont. Look at Vitt, McMahan, etc. They should have been long gone.

They can restructure and trade. If Manning is indeed finished I could see a team like the Broncos taking on that salary. Again it would be a dumb ass move to do so but it could happen.

Denver is dumb enough to go with Brock Osweiller. IF he does go, his best bet is Miami or Chicago. KC would be the best place but Grubbs is there.

I dont think it is dumb if Denver moves on from Manning. He has regressed snd only getting injured more snd more as time moves on. That $20ml in cap money could go a long way on building a championship team.

Problem is Denver is trying to put in Kubiak's offense which Manning is a poor fit...
Manning is used to moving the ball, scoring... Kubiak is used to losing... You can see the logic... |

I believe it was "financially necessary" last season to restructure his contract, prior to releasing several veteran players to clear cap space. Now that the team has already been gutted tells me that Brees was not in agreement with restructuring his contract and is now being forced to, or else. (IMO) Saints are already in rebuild mode. Releasing him and handing the reins over to Grayson so that he can mature with the current younger plays seems logical to me.
