this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; I'm not upset about the dead money. I'm just surprised by the move. Payton was singing his praises earlier this year. Idk, maybe he wasn't good for the locker room like Galette. I'm not concerned about our situation at RB ...

I'm not concerned about our situation at RB either. Just a weird move. Maybe he was fighting an injury like Lewis. If that's the case and we're getting rid of players who aren't getting on the field, then that's a good thing IMO. If they're getting rid of oft injured players....a certain LB might be next on the chopping block. His name rhymes with Smellerbee..... |

And I think thats what we all thought we were finally getting. But something was obviously wrong. Was it attitude, health? My guess is a combination of several things and since Murphy and Lasco excel at special teams, he was the most expendable. It might still be true that Spiller >>> Murphy and Lasco as a starting RB in 2016, but not so much in overall team value when you throw in future potential and special teams. So, did I successfully crawfish outta that one??? |

Re: Saints Cut C.J. Spiller
I am calling into question if Payton and Loomis even know what they are doing anymore.
We are only through week 1, and Spiller already caps a series of mind-boggling decisions. The big decisions they seem okay at - like getting Brees resigned and bringing in Kruger. It's all these small decisions that, honestly, the team seems clueless about. I'm trying to be subjective and not fall into the hindsight-is-20-20 stuff, but there is too much that already leaves me scratching my head: Why did we workout Lutz right before the start of regular season rather than bringing in him and/or other young kickers at beginning of camp? What was the purpose of hanging onto Spiller for one week, rather than cutting him toward end of preseason with our other cuts? We could have kept Finnegan or at least some other cornerback. I don't even want to get into last season, with the constant refusal to bench/cut Browner despite the fact that he single-handedly cost us at least two games last season. The whole 3-4/4-3/Rob Ryan fiasco last year and Payton's peculiar decisions about himself/Carmichael calling the plays. We just seem to have a lot of chronic unsettlement, if not dysfunction. I was trying to put these things behind me, but Payton/Loomis keep doing things that make me think I shouldn't being doing that. Always will be a fan, and I have confidence in Brees and many of the players on this team. I just don't have much confidence in Payton/Loomis because so little seems to make sense sometimes. |

Swann is on IR again; a torn muscle and not concussion

Shame, could have done with him. I really dont get why you are limited to one player o IR to return. I understand that teams could stash players but just make it that the NFL has to check out the players medical and so long as they are injured(say 4-5 weeks minimum they can go on IR)
