I know what he meant. Doesn't change my response though. We can draft back to back HOF players but it won't mean much if we don't put them in a system that fits and surround them with players to compliment.

I agree with whoever said he is decent, because he is. Not great, and if great is what you expected, then maybe he is a bust. With all the bad decisions over the years since he has joined the team, he doesn't even register.

Re: Well I've gone and done it!
Some could say that Ingram wasn't worth two draft picks. One first rounder......sure. Two? It's questionable. Ingram's turf toe held his development back. He has developed into a good all around running back with good pass protection and as a receiver. I'm happy with where he is now. We would probably have wasted the other draft pick anyway. Roll Tide!!!
Oh yes, our 7th round draft pick looks pretty darn good in limited playing time. |

He's no Johnathan Sutherland that's fosho
I would compare his status vs production to Reggie Bush's. Givin both their draft status and what we got in return in hindsight it was too much but we have gotten solid production from both and both have come up big when we needed them to. I remember how Ingram turned total beast a few years back when we made the playoffs. It took him all season but he finally hit on all cylinders. If he could give us that kind of production all the time then he would be well worth hat we gave up for him |

Re: Well I've gone and done it!
Wow, bummer. All of you who say he isn't a bust? That's it! You offer no evidence as to why he isn't. He is injury prone proven by the FACT that he has NEVER played a full season due to injury. In 5 years, what has he done for this team? I am fairly certain that no DC in the league game plans for Mark Ingram like they do for Adrian Peterson, or Todd Gurley or several other backs in the league. These are FACTS not speculation. How many games has Mark Ingram directly affected by having such a performance as to cause us to win that game? 1? 2? in 5 Years if that? How many 100 yard games has he had in his entire career here? 1 maybe 2? Mark Ingram is supposed to be a power back yet goes down at first contact at least 80% of time he carries the ball. A run of 10 yards is a rarity for Mark Ingram. How many of those has he had in his entire career here? So go ahead and criticize me for the FACTS that to me render Mark Ingram a bust. Keep enjoying those 2yard runs, those 2-3_5 and 10 yard tackles for loss. Those dropped passes and fumbles yeah he's a GREAT running back.....not. Say what you want but this guy has shown me nothing, but he's obviously pleased some of you with his mediocre play. I'm spoiled, I've seen Dalton Hillard, Ruben Mayes and Deuce McCalister run for this team. Mark Ingram is no where in their league.Sorry.

Re: Well I've gone and done it!
A whole lot of folks here have no clue what the word bust means. He's a starting RB in his 6th year.

Re: Well I've gone and done it!
It's funny, I personally never stumbled on to the SR site when I initially looked for a place to discuss Saints' football.
I guess I was lucky that I found this great place right away and didn't have to deal with the community over there - at least from what you guys are saying. Since then I've maybe visited their site twice... Oh, and I'd call someone like J. Russell, J. Manziel or A. Curry a bust - not someone like Ingram. And even with those guys the warning signs were there, so them being busts wasn't all that surprising in the end. |
