It's early still so you're right- it isn't necessarily a bad thing. I just worry a little bit that Marcus Williams may be our only safety who does well in zone and he's a rookie who will make mistakes.

You're right, it's early; and even Williams has struggled in Zone as well taking pore vectors in his pursuit angles...

It's like Klein said, a poor practice tape is a good learning tape; and they're doing this early so they have time to remedy...

Early going: Five (5) Safeties - Kenny Vaccaro, Vonn Bell, Marcus Williams, Raphael Bush, Chris Banjo...

Erik Harris needs to step up...

Re: Saints secondary is aiming to be the strength of the defense

Early going: Six (6) Cornerbacks - Lattimore, Breaux, Williams, Crawley

Next group - Moore, Maulet

Final spot - Harris and Swann

Rough start for Swann, but he's picked it up...

Moore and Maulet have to show higher ceilings...

Harris needs to take the next step...

Seems like we've struggled running the Zone Defense since we lost Jabari Greer and Tracy Porter...

...What are those guys doing now?

Casting a cautious eye on some of these deep balls that Vonn Bell seems to be late getting over to help...

Especially now that they're practicing in Cover 2 and he has half the field now that he's responsible...

It's early, and I'm sure D.A. and Bell will get it fixed because I don't want another season of not getting off the field on 3rd downs...

Well there is this clip of him getting leveled by Warford...

Re: Saints secondary is aiming to be the strength of the defense

This is what they say every year and if we can't get to the QB it doesn't matter much who is back there. Health and pressure up front improve and we immedietly jump out of the cellar in pass defense. How far is yet to be seen.
Man I remember after the draft asking myself how many safeties can we possibly need. Looks like the FO went after what we needed after all.
Looked like we were going to have quality depth there.
Someone will step up.

My concern about Maulet is I (think) refs going to be throwing flags on him for holding or pass interference. I like that aggression but I'll like to see how he play zone. Do he have the burst and instinct to make plays by playing off coverage
