Which brings me to my next observation, that he was, in fact, staring down receivers a lot today. He just looked tentative and lost at times. I've said it many times, that if we're going to anoint the man for being captain awesome when he's got 7 seconds to throw the ball, then I think it's reasonable to expect, on an off day for the offensive line, that maybe Drew could just make a few plays off script. There were drops, and I know that didn't help. Everyone outside of Thomas was bad today. I'm just surprised that anyone would give Brees a pass as if he wasn't part of the problem. It just seems like it's always "win as a team, lose as a team" but Drew is somehow detached from this "lose as a team" scenario. I don't think that's accurate or fair. |
If I had a nickel for every time I heard that, the NFL would fine and suspend me.

Re: Brees is done
What I didn't like from Brees today was putting the ball into heavy coverage spots where our guys were getting hammered. Did it with Ginn, Thomas and nearly got TreQuan killed but somehow he made that catch helmet flying off and all. Gone was the usual route combos we use to free up guys and get a high percentage completion. The passing game was way too vanilla today. That is what I think Sean, Pete and Drew need to work on for next week.

Re: Brees is done
It looked more like we weren’t prepared in all facets today, and that’s on coaching, not to say drew looked like anything but doo. But we sucked all over

Oline was awful today ... hard to watch but the whole team played flat. The Dline was manhandled all day, losing 23 was huge. It all added it up but Brees done ... huge over reaction.
