Let's assume Eli Apple walks in 2020 & we retain Janoris ... ??

IMO the secondary needs more young dawgs opposite Lattimore & I'm not sold on Marcus Williams.

Xavier McKinney - CB/S Alabama

Versatile (special teams/safety/corner), he doesn't guess, is instinctive & an above average open field tackler in space like CGJ.

If, Reagor is gone? Yes, I'd love the pick if he fell to us. But if you get into all the scouting reports, he's more of a Minkah Fitzpatrick, a Strong Safety or Heavy Nickel Safety...

And here's the thing for me, prioritizing contract extensions:

Marshon Lattimore
Marcus Williams
Vonn Bell
Rework Janoris Jenkins
Eli Apple

Gardner as the SS, allows Vonn Bell to walk, but then you turn around and take McKinney? And if you re-sign Bell, why take McKinney? And if Bell is re-signed, let Mr. Marcus walk, wouldn't you just move Gardner to FS?

That's the conundrum with taking McKinney in the first...

However taking McKinney, and assuming he's the goods, does allow you cap relief and you get compensatory picks for Bell and/or Mr. Marcus...

I really agree with his analysis and also the Mecole comparison.

His draft stock could ultimately boil down to his 40 time. A burner, a weapon.

Something the Saints desperately need at WR.

DeVonta Smith - WR Alabama

Solid #2 option … kind of got buried on the depth chart with Ruggs and Jeudy on the roster.

Like the way he sits down in zone coverage and maintains optimal spacing for the quarterback to pass...

My biggest issue with him was that he didn't draw the best coverage guys from the opposition...

And because of his diminutive stature, he'll get bullied against prototypical-sized NFL defensive backs...
