Teams will move on from the Tannahills and Trubiakies of the world and one or two of them are bound to flourish in a different system.
As long as Payton has anything to do with developing our next Qb we will be fine.
So as to my knowledge Payton has not developed not 1 single qb. since he has been here. He got lucky with Brees and so far that's it,and Brees was already a vet. Payton hasn't even developed a backup unless you consider Hill as a backup. Reid and McCarthy have a better track record than Payton at developing rookie qb's. I might rethink that about the development part, he might get lucky with a vet, or could it be Hill?

IMO Taysom Hill is not that guy. You hear all of the talk "the next Steve Young is already in the building" .. what 2 years now? If he was in the building, why didn't he start over 2 Glove Teddy during that stretch when #9 was out?

My hope is that we draft a QB in April. The time is NOW to draft the heir apparent to Brees. Is it Jalen Hurts? Jordan Love? Justin Herbert? Montez?

I want Hurts even though I’m not sure he’s the answer. And like I said, I’m warming up to Tua. I just know we need to address the position now.

I believe the QB position will get addressed early in the draft. Hurts body of work at the highest college level speaks for itself. Are we patient enough to "develop" him though? To be continued ...

As for Tua ... assuming his medical checks out ok and he has an impressive Pro Day, I think he's gone top 15.

I'm keeping an eye on Jordan Love as a potential Saints pick.

Wouldn’t mind seeing some healthy WR talent in the mix as well. CGM taking the beating for Drew right now

I honestly can't remember the last time the Saints WR core was as bad as 2019 season.

Michael had little to no help. It was good to see Jared step up down the stretch @ TE though.

Carr, Ginn Jr, Tre ... were extremely disappointing.

In no particular order some of the "Top Rated QB Prospects" from the 2015 NFL draft

Jameis Winston, Marcus Mariota, Brett Hundley, (Bryce Petty was mentioned a few times on this board), Garrett Grayson, Sean Mannion, Blake Sims, Shane Carden and Paxton Lynch another name that was thrown around in connection with the Saints.

All this "Taysom HIll is 32!!" (All the while forgetting the starting QB is 41!!)

No! he He turns 30 August 23 2020

Born: August 23, 1990 (age 29 years), Pocatello, ID

YOU THINK YOU KNOW BUT IN REALITY YOU DON"T KNOW

Take Steve Young for example In the two seasons with Tampa Bay, Young had a .533 completion rate, throwing 11 touchdowns and 21 interceptions.(OH THE HORROR!!)

In 1987 Young was traded to the San Francisco 49ers, where he worked as a backup to future NFL Hall of Famer Joe Montana. When an elbow injury sidelined Montana in 1991, Young became the starting quarterback for the 49ers. From 1991 to 1994, Young led the NFL in passing, earning league most valuable player (MVP) honours in 1992 and 1994. He finished the 1994 season with a 112.8 passer rating, a mark he achieved on a scale where 100 was meant to be the realistic maximum. He also led the league in yards per pass attempt, averaging a gain of 8.7 yards every time he released the ball. He capped this extraordinary run by leading the 49ers to victory over the San Diego Chargers in Super Bowl XXIX in 1995. Young threw a record-setting six touchdowns in a 24-for-36 performance that earned him recognition as the game’s MVP.

I read this argument that he would be 32 before getting the starting job after Brees hangs up the cleats.

Assuming he works out to be legit he will Still be young enough to play at a high level for 4-5 years. QBs like Brees who last 10 plus years at a high level don’t just come around every day, sometimes never. We got extremely lucky with Brees. We will be lucky to ever find another Qb who can play anywhere near that level for more than 5-6 seasons at best, especially now that everyone is looking for mobile Qb’s.
Fans have become spoiled.
