Re: Alvin Kamara looms as Saints' next big contract decision
It would be a mistake to pay more than 10m per year. RBs are a product of the system and O line. Also, they are often injured and rarely come back from injuries well.
That all said, we just signed Peat to the single dumbest contract I have seen so anything can happen. Edit: Others posted about RBs not growing on trees... I’d disagree with that for Payton. He knows how to scheme and be effective with any RB. Outside of 2010 (injuries) when have we had poor RBs? You all remember K. Robinson right? People compared home to Curtis Martin lol... he sucked when he left. I appreciate AK, but he isn’t worth losing another good vital player in order to pay him. |
The Saints are 0-42 when running the ball less than 15 times in a game.

Well based on AK's production in 2019, the Saints front office brass should allow him to play out 2020 (assuming we do have a season) for his cap hit of 2M, then reassess his worth in a year when you have the option to let him hit Free Agency, franchise him or extend.
He will eventually get paid, however not C McCaffery type coin. |

I'd be willing to give this more credit if Kamara had ever been an MVP candidate. |

Re: Alvin Kamara looms as Saints' next big contract decision
I would trade him or let him play out his contract. He's not a #1 rb( Derick Henry type bell cow back) and if Payton uses him that way he's going to get hurt. There are some really good backs in the draft this year and picking up one would go a long way for production and money. If Kamara would want top money it would be a huge mistake to give it to him.

Re: Alvin Kamara looms as Saints' next big contract decision
Double edged sword..
-Let him play his tail off for the new contract and we reap the rewards. -He goes off and we have to break the bank. Paytons belief in #41's gridiron IQ is why we do everything to keep him.Sean will go to bat heavily on this one I'm thinking... Then Mickey weighs it out and capitalizes somehow. Could be a shocker draft day.. |

Re: Alvin Kamara looms as Saints' next big contract decision
Ask the rams how they feel about paying for gurley now? Was he hurt or made a business decision is not what I’m saying , like someone said above he’s not a bell cow but part of a scheme. Kamara that is.Bell cows should get paid. People want to pay huge contacts to players that run off the field after every 2 plays . To me AK has been half asred figured out. My Analytics say Kamara gets the ball 75% of the time when he’s (in) the game . Take him out and you will force a punt.

Also the WR Caroline have getting no respect when saying CMC is only weapon. DJ Moore and Curtis Samuel are both very good players |
