Alvin Kamara looms as Saints' next big contract decision
~ Mike Triplett
METAIRIE, La. -- Although the first big wave of free-agent spending has passed in the NFL, the New Orleans Saints' biggest financial decision of the offseason is still looming. Running back Alvin Kamara is heading into the final year of his rookie contract at the bargain rate of $2.133 million. So it seems inevitable that he will push for a long-term contract extension this summer. Read the rest https://www.espn.com/blog/new-orlean...tract-decision |

Well the markets just been set
McCaffrey 4 year 64ml extension. 16ml a year. Kamara going to want similar. Go back to a 3vheaded monster like 2009-2011 |

Re: Alvin Kamara looms as Saints' next big contract decision
Why would he want similar? He hasn't shown he can take that workload, nor has he had similar production. His agent can't be that stupid. Melvin Gordon just got 8 mil a year. I could see AK getting 10+ mil a year plus more in incentives. He's worth that and deserves it.

We spent 50+ mil on Andrus Peat. Regardless of how much we think someone is worth, if Payton likes them, he'll want to pay them.
I personally think it's a bad idea, but unfortunately guys like Chris Ivory and Pierre Thomas dont grow on trees. |

Neither do Alvin Kamara's. Before last year's injury, he was looking like the second coming of Gayle Sayers. That doesn't happen. I really want to see what he looks like this year if he's really 100%.

He’ll have a career year. Why? Contract year.

We signed Peat for $33MM guaranteed. Not 50.
