Should get something for Bell too right?

I wasn’t convinced Taysom Hill was really Drew’s successor but now we’ve drafted a mobile QB with more of Taysom’s style.

So I’m assuming this guy is going to take over the role of hill when he becomes the starter?

Exactly. I think that pics showed a sign of commitment.

It’s looking like the Emmanuel Sanders signing cancels out the 6th rounder we would’ve gotten for Bell.

Sure, if the Saints want to be trendy, for no actual reason. There is no statistical analysis stating that a running QB leads to more wins. Last time I checked, QB's who are proficient at just passing the ball, still win games.

Every now and then, you get a couple of good years out of a "dual threat" guy, but then they start getting beat up. Which makes it financially irresponsible to run that style of offense, consistently. So, yeah, maybe they will change to that. Or maybe they won't. I'm getting a little tired of being told to "get ready" for it. as if it is somehow necessary that this happens.

I’m reading the tea leaves. Payton is a trendy kind of guy. When the 3-4 was big he wanted that. When the Seahawks Cover 3/Cover 1 system became the thing he wanted that. The mobile QB and RPO’s are the thing and now he wants that. I’m excited to see what the offense will look like with Hill or any other mobile QB they so choose. Shaking up the playbook has been long overdue.

Push comes to shove, Drew retires after this year. Saints give Taysom the job for a year and see how he handles it. If he is terrible you just rebuild.

Idk. I think Payton tends to jump on defensive trends because defense really isn’t his strong suit. Offensively he is a trend setter. Look at all the teams that try and emulate him. I see Payton changing things based on personnel and what other defenses are doing.

Taysom Hill is not an NFL QB. I can't say that enough. He wasn't even a GOOD passer in college. What he is, is a great athlete. The Saints are using him right, when he is running routes and taking hand offs. They need to make that permanent, and stop squandering valuable playing time, by trying to make him a QB. It's beyond idiotic.

Stevens, like Taysom, was a terrible college passer. Stevens, UNLIKE Taysom, is NOT a great athlete. He's a "good" athlete. Nowhere near Taysom's level with the ball in his hands.

So IF Sean wants to do something else, he doesn't have the right QB to do it. Period.

Sean used to be a trendsetter like 10 years ago. McVay and Pederson took over that mantle years ago.

I’m not necessarily disagreeing, but I am saying that Sean Payton might disagree with your analysis on whether or not Hill can play QB in this league. I think they believe he can, and I think you’ll see #7 under center next year.

I'll just say that it would shock me if this ends up being true. It takes a blind man not to see that Taysom is not the future at QB.

I think Payton is being coy when he talks about the possibility. I have a hard time believing he is serious. I hope he's not.

I'm sorry, but the Saints are full of themselves if they think they can just take any crappy QB and make him a Taysom Hill. Taysom is a rare athlete, who should stay at receiver/tight end. END the QB project!

What would you guys think about this scenario when it comes to the QB situation:

Brees plays for two years (while winning two SBs, obviously) and retires.

The Saints trade for a disgruntled Aaron Rodgers, which is the earliest he could realistically be traded for under his new contract.

The Saints keep on marchin' and collecting Lombardies...

Just spit-balling for laughs.

Speaking of QB's …

It's been reported (per Dan Raggs) that the Saints have been in contact with Free Agent and former Buc Jameis Winston throughout the draft.

I'm not saying he'll end up in New Orleans but this could be something to keep an eye out on in the coming weeks. We have nothing behind Brees with legitimate NFL caliber experience.

Talent-wise he is way better than Teddy. I believe his weaknesses can be coachable. Arm talent was never in question with Winston. Few years in Saints system, who knows... Funny thing is, he has same stats as Peyton Manning did in Indy first few years. lol

If the front office is fully on Taysum Hill bandwagon then you have to wonder why Winston would agree

If the Saints were even remotely interested, he'd be an emergency QB. Some may disagree here but Winston is actually better than 2 Glove Teddy.

I wouldn't put anything past Sean Payton.

Apples to Oranges my friend.... Wouldn't you say? One is a case of questionable character going back through college at least... and the other is lack of experience and utilization.
