I’m stunned we couldn’t get into the 2nd round. I don’t doubt at all that we tried.

Better to sit pat anyway. If anything fetch a 3rd or 4rth for him and not lose any picks for next season

Other than Epenesa and Cleveland, many players came off the board that I wasn't crazy about for the Saints...

How's about we just trade warford straight up for a third? I'd do that deal in a heartbeat. Looks like there's still meat on the bone going into round 3, it'd be nice to have more ammo.

May also be Warford for a Player To Be Named (e.g. QB, LB, RB)...

Geezhus, could ESPN make this NFL Draft more depressing?

Is Tim Burton directing the Draft Production?!?

Nothing against AJ Dillon but man what a bad draft for the Packers so far.

I really like Dillon, but in the late 3rd to early 5th range...

Gotta find a way to get LB Logan Wilson or CB Cameron Dantzler here in the 3rd round.

At what point would any of you feel comfortable rolling the dice on Zack Baun?

With our first round pick lol. It would be awesome to land him in the third.

I know he had the diluted sample and all, and he isn't ideal size but so what, neither are a lotta guys who end up having great careers

He’d be a very nice fit as a Sam LB with stand-up edge rush ability.

Chris and I were discussing this the other day...

I don't feel he can hold the edge as a defensive end and he's better suited in a 3-4 front...

Chris has argued he'd had enough quickness shown that he could cover as a LBer...

But my issue (and it's a part of the game that I miss) is that the LBer position, role has been greatly reduced as today's game sees so many 3-4 WR fronts and nickel/dime counter moves...

I see where you're coming from, and while I would agree with Chris that I think he could absolutely play SAM, it is a pass happy league. But, I think he could still be an asset in different rush packages, and I'd be cool with spending a third on a guy like that. Especially if he's productive and I think he will be.

That’s what I’m thinking. Payton said LB needs to be and will be addressed but maybe not in the draft. Might be a good LB out there some team may be willing to part with.

Btw, just throwing it out there, but sedgwick ellis and sheldon rankins have had damn near identical careers

ChrisXVI 04-24-2020 09:03 PM

Re: Saints Draft Days Official Thread

I think right now if we are hellbent on going LB here in the 3rd I’d rather go for a 3 down player with Mike potential like Akeem Davis-Gaither or Troy Dye.

WR Bryan Edwards is a real sleeper pick for us in the 3rd.
