Many techniques would have been considered nonsense twenty years ago in both of those fields but are now mainstays in training and rehabilitation.

Read the books I listed from the experts who are better than me but I can tell you this gets you better at a circus job but not better at football. Lots of trainers make up this non-sense so they can get paid. Perhaps we could have him catch it with his mouth next time to really show us how it is done.
