Was watching episode 2 of Hard Knocks last night and they had Derwin Williams (year 2 safety) mic'd up. He loves contact, dish out snot bubbles and make you pay coming across the middle of the field. Only 2 seasons under his belt and is already a form tackler.

Go low, head up, wrap up.

If it makes you feel any better, Williams was considered the best tackler on Utah's defense and opposing coaches called him one of the best tacklers in the Pac-12. He had some gaudy stat for least missed tackles in a season. His coach said you can run him over. (referring to his size) but he was gonna latch on to you and eventually pull you down.

More bulk could be exactly what he needs.

Not looking to feel better Utah Saint. Marcus needs to wrap up. This isn't lip service. Coach Payton and Glenn recently said this.

He's not playing in college anymore.

In fact I'm calling it. The Saints will be up so much in the 4th quarter on September 13th that Payton is going to send Winston in for cleanup. The dude is going throw two more TDs and send the Yuccs running home with their tail between their legs. Think 2009 Saints/Patriots in terms of the beatdown.

Adding more bulk is worthless if your technique isn't correct.

The Minnesota thing didn't happen because he wasn't muscular enough to bring down Diggs, it happened because he forgot the basic fundamentals of tackling and just lunged at Diggs like a fish.

Have you tried that? On anyone, much less someone heavier and stronger than your self?
It is only 1/3 of the tackling formula and you do not go low, you put your facemask in the numbers. His numbers will always move in the direction of the ball and if you lead with your facemask your head is always up.

A perfect tackle has 3 parts.
1. Contact form as you mentioned. Facemask in the numbers and wrap the arms.

2. Drive after contact, if you do not have your feet you so not have sh1t. I can wrap you perfectly but if I am not on my feet and driving, you can drag me or run me over. (This is why launching at someone is rarely fruitful)

3. Pure physics. With the best technique, all the heart, and every bit of the leg drive in the world 155lb Brandon Banks will never in his wildest dreams change Marshawn Lynch's momentum.

Heavier and stronger players have an advantage and do not have to exert as much effort with #2 as because their force (Mass x acceleration) has a bigger effect on stopping the ball carriers momentum.:bng:

In fairness to Marcus, that's just one bad play where he also made a lot of good plays as a rookie.

It's cool that he's analyzed his 2019 tape, identified his weakness (tackling) and accepted the challenge to get better. He has quality vets around to encourage and mentor.

We shall see.

He was a Rookie in a Playoff Game where Dennis Allen and Sean Payton had just gave in-game short instruction on avoiding a pass interference or like penalty...

Factor all of that as well as Mr. Marcus' interception that got us back into that game...

Wrapping up with good form and Gang Tackling are how you get the Marshawn Lynch's to the ground...

And I bet $1 Ronnie Lott would've put Marshawn Lynch on his arse; in fact, Payton oughta bring in Lott for an inservice with the defensive backs...

I know Coach stated that Bennie Fowler would have to make his mark on special teams but looking at his highlights from today's practice ...

He is a very good route runner. Quick and precise.

Brees is not having a very good camp according to several sources. May be time to admit he’s not invincible.

Kaden Ellis shouldn't have fell in the draft - kid's got legit wheels...

Those that have been unhappy with this group in the Sean Payton era I believe are in for a real treat...

Funny. I haven't read any of those sources. And there's only been three days of camp after an off-season with zero activities. It's going to take a few days to get people on the same page, Dude.

And, please post those "several sources" or you are once again full of crap.

Waiting ...............

30 Second Timer With Jeopardy Thinking Music - YouTube

Go back and listen to WWL’s camp coverage over the last couple days. Sacks, hurry’s, off target throws, intercepted several times.
“Winston by far had the best showing among Qb’s today”
Yea they are switching up the line and all so I’m sure you will use that excuse. Veterans QBs aren’t used to that I guess.

He's gliding out there.

He is one of the guys I couldn’t wait to see in camp. Almost feels like seeing an extra draft pick out there. Glad he’s making noise.

That's right. You listen to that WWL crap. Every year is doom and gloom. I'm not going to waste my time listening to their canned tripe.

And show me the link where "“Winston by far had the best showing among Qb’s today”. Okay? Or is that just your interpretation? Anyone with half a brain would know that Brees undoubtedly the best QB option for the Saints and still one of the very best in the league. Three practices into the entire 2020 off-season is pretty meaningless.

This thread was going so nice and yet again here you are jumping on comments and chastising people like you always do. Typical.

Try blocking him. I can actually enjoy this board again. And it cuts down thread comments by probably 30% lol.

This is from WWL.

"I thought Taysom threw the ball the best on Monday, but Drew Brees takes that crown today. I thought he looked sharp all day.

You can see the urgency in Jameis Winston. He kind of bounced around all day, eager to get his reps, at times looking antsy. He sprinted fully through all of team take off… an attribute I love in players, because it shows an attention to detail and a work ethic when no one is watching. He was off target a few times in routes on air…going to take some time on task to get him comfortable. "

It's nice until someone calls you out ridiculous statements like "Brees is struggling", "Winston the best QB by far", and "Winston will be the starter by week 4". How does your mind work to come up with this stuff?

Re: 2020 New Orleans Saints Training Camp

Training camp is only 3 days old, however the reports on rookie TE Adam Trautman are trending upward.

With his size and athleticism, there is a good chance we could see him used in the red zone like Jimmy G this season. Potential nightmare to defend.

Re: 2020 New Orleans Saints Training Camp

Watch: Zach Strief, Deuce McAllister recap Thursday's Saints practice

Still nothing from them mentioning any "struggles" from Brees or anything about Winston being the "best QB by far" out there.

But, still some good stuff. Deuce and Strief are the only ones worth listening to on WWL. About seven minutes long. Bobby and Steve Geller are cringe worthy.
