Okay, I am really pissed now!!!!!

TO went for Brandon Whiting and a 6th round pick.
Anybody notice Whiting was released this week after failing his physical? Jeez, what a waste...

Okay, I am really pissed now!!!!!

That\'s how I know our hand was forced, just like the 49ers was. We were at the trade deadline and had a below average situation at CB. JT and a 2nd? Come on. The Packers had a disgruntled corner, who they were willing to let sit if he din\'t wanna play for them. If we wanted him WE HAD to overpay. Forced. Also Moss drew a 1st rounde(#7)r and a starting LB. That\'s when you are not forced into a deal. Bailey for Portis, not forced. Our trade for MM, forced.

LB, good to see you, where you been?
I\'ve been on vacation, and then had to go to Gainesville for business. I am here now, but get to go back to Chicago Saturday. I\'ve been looking in from time to time, but I don\'t care much for the speculation game. All the threads being started about \"what about this guy?\" or \"should we go after blah blah blah blah blah.\" It is somewhat humorous to me, because I know that all the names being thrown out will rarely actually end up with that person being a Saint. Some of you do have it right, however. The Saints will wait until the dust settles and see who is leftover and is getting desparate, and then they will probably make a lowball bid to those who are starting to feel the pressure, and eventually they will end up with someone who may or may not fill the need. At any rate, they will get them for the money they are willing to spend, which is their main concern.

Whether you think you can or think you can't...you're right!

Too true LB, too true. I guess I should \"calm down\" since I know that\'s how it\'s gonna be. But it still pisses me off. :mad2: :realmad: :cussing: :burning: Cause I know when all is said and done, I will be this guy :weepy:

Um, all you have to do is read Patriot Reign, it is IN THE BOOK, a book I have suggested be read repeatedly cause it is good. THAT\"S how I know what\'s in Belichek\'s head about Tebucky.
Ok. I\'ll take your word for that.
Second, you know Milloy didn\'t wanna visit cause Danno said so?
That was writen all over the place here last year. I assumed that it was common knowledge. My apologies for assuming that that was known.
That\'s proof? Okay, I heard someone say we had Hartwell. That\'s my proof.
Whodi, that is just disrespectful. Apologies if I said something mean to you. You need to look into \"the principle of charity\" - the basic idea is that you assume the guy you are talking with isn\'t making a stupid argument. Before you call him out, you try and figure out if he could possibly be making a good argument, then you assume that he is making that one. If you are truly certain he is saying something that isn\'t an argument or it is difficult to say what the argument is, you ask him why he thinks that or point out that he should provide evidence.
I don\'t think Young was a good FA pickup.
Why not?
We don\'t address areas of need. We have no backup QB, and no LBS.
You will notice that I stipulated to the LBs not once but twice. As far as QBs go, we did sign Bouman in FA. Furthermore, we had JT and we drafted this Klingsbury kid. That seems to me to be addressing the QB backup role. Nobody thought getting Bouman was bad (of course, 90% of people thought letting Jake go was bad) when we got him. It wasn\'t until the preseason started that people started being upset with Bouman. In fact, around here, there were plenty of people saying that Bouman should start ahead of AB at one point.
We also didn\'t have good corners going into last season.
But we did get Craft and Ambrose by way of FA. Craft was a somewhat sought after CB. So, we did address CB in FA. Not only that, we got Dale Carter in FA. It seems to me that even if these didn\'t pan out, it isn\'t like we didn\'t address those needs.
We got Mike midway and we were forced. J.T and a second??? TO went for Brandon Whiting and a 6th round pick. We were forced.
I agree with this; my point was that we are being \"forced\" again. We don\'t have a starting RT right now, and we seem to be looking into that, if you buy the rumors.
Who else wanted Riley and Conwell and Young? From what I saw, we got Young pretty fast in FA, where is there evidence someone else wanted him? The Rams made no effort to keep him. I also saw noone else make efforts for Stecker.
I don\'t see how I\'m going to get that information for you? I\'m certain that others around here will back me up on Conwell. Surely, you agree with me on Gandy, right. Riley will get interest from teams THIS year, even after the way he played for us. The Yahoo site has him ranked among the top 10, I think, OTs available in FA - someone posted something last week where Riley was ranked 5th! Yikes. Also, I said we got Stecker when no one was looking; we agree on that too.
We paid Gandy cause we were ass out after Roaf and Turley. We HAD to. Again, a decision that was forced and not a matter of choice.
If we got Pierce, wouldn\'t that have been forced? We don\'t have a star LB. I don\'t see what this point about \"being forced\" has to do with anything? I\'m not trying to be an azz, I just don\'t understand this idea of being forced. I feel like we are forced to get any FA we do get - why would we get someone we didn\'t need?
I think we suck at FA, and the players we have gotten prove it.
I agree that we have not been as aggressive as I\'d like, but hind sight is 20/20. I\'m merely pointing out that when we made those moves I listed, there were fans somewhere else who were cheezed they didn\'t get Conwell or Gandy or even the naive few who wanted Riley.
We also suck in the draft outside the 1st round.
I wonder how good any team\'s track record is here? I don\'t think we\'ve done that much worse or better than any other team in the draft. That is the problem with the draft: it is a craps shoot. Sure, there are periods of 2 to 4 years where a team or two does really well in the draft, but I don\'t see that we\'ve done that badly. In fact, I remember reading somewhere that we have a fairly good number of draft picks over the Haz period that are still on the team compared to other teams during the same time period.
I guess we can interpret \"thrown for a loop\" however we want. I, and others, see it as having no backup plan. You don\'t. That\'s lovely Kool.
Cute. You\'re calling down my optimism here just as much or more than I questioned your pessimism. I guess you\'ll have to excuse me for not taking the fact that a bunch of people took it to mean we have no back up plan as evidence that we have no back up plan. Until I hear more, I will simply believe that I don\'t really know what \"thown for a loop\" means in this context.
As I said in the other post, I am glad you are optimistic. I see us being about to be forced into doing something stupid, and I am pissed.
I\'m not sure what will happen yet with this. I just don\'t see any evidence that we are going to do anything stupid. Even though a lot of those guys I mentioned didn\'t turn out as we\'d like, they were not stupid acquisitions when we made the decision to acquire them. Thus, the fact that those guys (except T-buck, I\'ll give you that point) didn\'t turn out, IS NOT a sign that we will do something stupid.

Finally, I don\'t see why the Howard trade is our last hope? There are still a bunch of upgrades at OT and LB available in FA. Hartwell, Gold, and so on. I listed them in another thread.

Saintfan

Let\'s just say this has been the source of some of your best work.
I am tellin ya there used to be this air of disbelief , now the common point seems to be Brooks is not the only problem . 4 years ago Brooks makin plays up in the huddle would have been worth some debate , now it kind of get\'s handled with that what\'s new attitude . News flashes are posted with the lead in to Brooks , Sheppard is hired because he works well with Brooks and knows the offense . I mean what is that bull ??? You go out and hire an Offensive Coordinator and he runs a system you want , a system he is capable of running and has the expertice with and success with . Not because he plays well with the handicapped quarterback .

OK, Loomis, here\'s how it works...

Tuna smiling again in Dallas

When talking with Cowboys coach Bill Parcells last weekend in Indianapolis, there was a sense that Dallas was going to be very aggressive in free agency. Coming out \"with guns blazing,\" was the term mentioned.

\"Those are your words, not mine,\" Parcells said, when questioned about Dallas\' attitude toward spending its cap money. They entered this period approximately $15 million under the cap.

Parcells was in a good mood at the combine. He was talking baseball, a passion of his, as spring training got under way. Plus, he likes the addition of ex-Buffalo quarterback Drew Bledsoe, a player who took him to his third Super Bowl back in New England. Despite owner Jerry Jones\' praise of Drew Henson, the coach wanted a veteran, and got one.

He also wants to switch his defense to a 3-4 defense, so the Cowboys needed to sign Jets defensive tackle Jason Ferguson, which they did Thursday. They already signed the hottest free-agent cornerback, former Brown Anthony Henry, to go with left cornerback Terence Newman.

With the late-season emergence of running back Julius Jones, the Cowboys can be competitive again in the NFC East if Bledsoe can stay healthy and make some big plays. Remember, Bledsoe will be reunited with speed receiver Terry Glenn, who missed half of last season. His biggest target should be tight end Jason Witten, one of the best at his position. And there\'s old reliable, Keyshawn Johnson.

Last year, Parcells was forced to start Vinny Testaverde after the team released Quincy Carter because of his drug problems. Parcells and Jones were right about Carter, who abandoned his new team, the Jets, during their playoff run to enter a drug rehabilitation center.

There is nothing definite about his future in Dallas, but Parcells sounds like a coach who wants to fix the Cowboys and get them competitive in a hurry. Granted, Bledsoe isn\'t a long-term answer, but maybe in a year or two Henson might be. But the sense in Dallas is, particularly with the staff and scouting changes that he\'s made, that Parcells doesn\'t plan to walk away after this season unless the team is a winner.

Even if Dallas struggles again next season, I can see Parcells returning for the fourth and final year of his contract. He doesn\'t want to leave his last NFL coaching job with the team still below .500.

Now go forth and sign someone at a need position!
