But lets gets back to hockey... do you RW44 have any thing to comment regarding my post about Nash and Doan?

I think SloMo and I have a pretty good relationship until it comes to tension on certain topics. I can't speak for him though.

I heard there was a $5mil/3yr deal offered to Doan but he'd like to stay in Phoenix & is waiting to see if they're moving the franchise or not before he accepts anyone's offer ... not a word on Nash, which means that's the guy we'll probably be getting, ... IDK, Detroit has tons of cap space & tons of cash to throw around, just nobody to go after ... I'm ready to say just hang tight this year, bring up some prospects during the season and look to the next couple batches of F/A's.

Supposedly Boston is the front runner for Nash. Though with as much as San Jose is tossed around there, I wouldn't count them out. Though the sticking point is Logan Coulture.

Honestly, Nash isn't worth the contract he is on at the moment, so it'll be very interesting to see which team is desperate enough to trade away a younger guy with equal or greater potential and with a much reasonable cap hit - as would be the case with the Sharks if they were to pull the trigger, but I seriously doubt they'll go after Nash.

Maybe if they could package Clowe and Vlasic for Nash - as was suggested by some blogger I read yesterday - but Columbus would never agree to that, since Nash is their only truly valuable commodity left. They'll want a younger guy with an lower or equal cap hit, who can preferably play both center and wing, and he should be pretty good as well.

I doubt Wilson would deal Clowe.

Clowe is borderline 2nd liner, and probably the worst defensive forward on the Sharks' team, so I do think they'd trade him away if the return was worth it.

He is really overrated by many, very inconsistent and has a tendency to do idiotic things at exactly the wrong time. With the body he has and the linemates he has played with, he should be getting more points, but his inability to drive to the net at the right time has made him a very poor power forward.

But the thing is that Howson has to get a good return for any trade that would include Nash, because many in Columbus view that he let Carter go for too little in return - although I happen to think that Jack Johnson is a really good young defenseman - so he has to get a good return this time or there'll be people calling for his resignation in Columbus.

I'm not arguing about Clowe's ability. I think he is a solid player, not the best but a guy you'd want on your team and comes at a relatively good price. Also think, he hasn't been paired with the best linemates. Not dogging on talent, just chemistry. The only thing is, he has weathered every "shake up" Wilson has done w/ the Sharks so I don't see him going.

Either way, probably a mute point since since Sharks will need to give up youth for Nash.
