2021 NFL Draft: New Orleans Saints

Best DE in the draft. Fits our profile to a T. Buuut... he’s one concussion away from retirement. He already retired once in college.

I just can’t see how they don’t go for a CB. Even trade up judging from past drafts. Of course I never have been correct about predicting Saints drafts.

Wonder what we could get for the dancing bear Mr. Glass?

Your Mr. Glass has become more of a Mr. Reliable the past two seasons. What we would get is a hole at left tackle.

Whatever we got would need spent on a new LT as I doubt you get more than a late 1 early 2. The big benefit would be in the cap but it's a bit late for that now

It wouldn't be a help in the cap at all. His base salary is only $1.12 million. The rest are all in bonus guarantees which we would get hit with. With his restructure bonus he counts $8.299 million against the 2021 cap. If we trade him we get hit with a $20.18 million slam.

No way at all we can move him even if we wanted and personally I think that would be beyond foolish as he is one of the best LT's in the league today. They are rare.

Agreed on what we could get for him, but I doubt anyone would pony up a 1st for him as things stand right now. Moving him (a trade, pre or post 6/1) would free up a bit of cap space, $2.3M iirc, but it would be offset by dead money of just over $2M. Pick your poison, lol.

From my perspective, he’s already a sunk cost, let’s keep him..., unless a holy smokes offer happens. Him being on the roster is a much greater benefit than any compensation we would get, imho.

To whom are you referring? Dead money on Armstead via trade would be $20.18 million pre-6/1 and $7.179 million 2021/$13+ million 2022.
