I would never say no to acquiring a player of his magnitude but only if it makes sense.
Like Rez said...Can we? Without gutting the team or losing all our draft capital? I don’t think we are going to be able to get in a position to acquire Watson because we don’t have enough flexibility. This year we are going to have to hope for another great draft haul with our picks....inexpensive players to help get our cap under control. |

Re: Deshawn Watson.... should we?
Taking the advice of your star player on some personnel moves is not the same thing as demanding input in who runs my team. To me it's not even close.

Re: Deshawn Watson.... should we?
Would absoloutley love to see Deshawn in a Saints jersey but with the situation the cap is and the need to retool the roster i don't think its possible. Its a shame the situation is what it is right now because there are some QB out there worth trying to get and little wiggle room to do it.
I wouldn't touch Watson,Stafford or any premium QB, focus on the next 5 years not the next 1. I'd offer the Jags one of the 2 comp picks and a conditional for Minshew. He has 2 years left on his rookie deal, so if it doesn't work out the price isn't high and you have a cheap back up for 2 years. At best you have a new QB who will be 26 when he needs a new deal. He's the cheapest and best value offer. With his cap figure it doesn't stop you drafting a QB if the chance is there either |
"Two receivers to the left, Garcon to the right. Manning in the shotgun, puts Collie in motion. Looks in his direction...it's picked off! It's picked off! It's Tracy Porter again! He's runnin' free! He's gonna go all the way!

The team has the talent as it is right now but to keep it together you are going to have to mortage the next few years to push back the salaries of many of the players. getting under the cap is either going to mean gutting the team or cap problems or the foreseable future. right now its 95ml over the cap with only 45 players on the roster and Lattimore,Ramczyk both needing new deals, Williams,Hendrickson without a deal and only 1 QB on the roster. |

or Michael Thomas or Alvin Kamara has signed on for a five-year plan. This team came within a Cook fumble/Hill healthy/Harris return of beating Tampa. Throwing in the towel and looking for a 5 year plan is silly. |

Our Cap issue will drag out passed the draft because there will be holdouts for restructures. This is going to get ugly. Possibly insurrection at Pat O's. |

Re: Deshawn Watson.... should we?
I don't think Watson is a very good QB, and add to that he plays wild which will lead to injuries.
He has been surrounded by talent at WR for years. Usually they had a solid defense yet they struggle to win games. Watson owns a large portion of that. In my opinion he hasn't earned the right on the field to decide who is HC or WR should be. Comparing Watson to Brady in this regard is insane. |
