Also we weren't playing with the same players with Jameis, that's just wrong. Our O-line sustained substantial issues. The QBs had infinitely more pressure from the middle of the season onward than they did at the beginning. Jameis never has impressed me, and I feel like if he was the QB at the latter half of the year he would have been throwing INTs all over the place.
Thing is Jameis was playing smart IMO and doing all asked of him. His TD/INT ratio was excellent. I'm not sure what the team will do of course, but I wouldn't hate it if we gave him another shot at it with a real team around him.

I’m referring to off season and preseason. They both had the same players to practice with. Honestly, if Payton didn’t waste time trying to make Hill a starting QB, Winston would have gotten a lot more reps with the starters and in general. Winston flat out was the better QB. He had a 102.8 rating with 14 TD and 3 Ints? What else do you want from him? He played 7 full games and was still our leading passer.

I get it…you probably just don’t like him and that’s cool but don't try to minimize the impact that he had on the start of our season.

Everyone else gets a pass for what they have done but Winston. He had us at 5-2 and was taking care of the ball. Hill is not a QB that you want throwing the ball a lot. We have more proof of him being a turnover machine in this offense than we go with Winston.

Let me say that I do like Hill but in certain packages, not as a full time QB. He was bailed out on so many bad throws this year, especially when trying to push the ball vertically.

If they thing there is a better QB on the market that’s affordable then I hope they go for it but we do not have a starting QB under contract.

And for all those who think Book can take over, is not going to happen. He is average at best. The same issues he had in college will now be magnified in the NFL. He is basically a Chase Daniel clone and Chase was a better QB, arm talent wise.

I agree on every point here. From beginning to end. Dead on.

I was not a Winston fan but I think he did well enough and deserves another shot. It's obvious that he was doing all the right things before his injury. Too bad. I'd like to have seen more of him to see how his development was going after a full year. Payton is truly the QB whisperer.

Re: Season Wrapup

Better have a damn good back up plan at QB if Jameis signs elsewhere.

Marquee names WILL cost you picks and draft capital.

Based on my readings from Underhill & Duncan, JW & Marcus Williams are 1a, 1b priorities this off season.

Re: Season Wrapup

I was really hoping Hill was going to ball out when he got his chance but the truth is unless Paytons game plan with him just about like the Ravens do with Jackson he shouldn't be behind center. Even if Payton does play Raven type ball Hill want hold up taking all those shots. The other thing I think want be good, Hill isn't as accurate as Jackson on any part of the field. I got to see if he was up for the task and as much as I hate to admit I was wrong, Hill at best is a career back-up at best and from watching his decision making, pocket presents and accuracy he would be a #3 or #4 at best. Any other team he wouldn't be considered a starting caliber qb. I do think he would make a really good TE with his physical play, and if we would need a hard yard he could be the man.

Re: Season Wrapup

A lot of QB critiques here are based on a season where we had a garbage O-line and limited WR/TE help. I think we only saw Sean's Offensive vision against the dirty birds and both Taysom and Trevor looked very good in it when the line was at it's healthiest. I myself wouldn't be throwing anyone in the garbage can.
